I'm sure Kanye's constant whining is not helping his chances of being accepted in the high end fashion world but the reality is he wasn't going to be accepted anyway

I saw an interview with Marc Ecko I think on the breakfast club where he was saying there's nothing wrong with selling t-shirts and Kanye should start with that route because the high end fashion world is an elitist group that isn't trying to let people in. I don't see anything wrong with having a Ecko, Sean John, LRG kind of brand, those brands made big money in their time
Those high end fashion designers are not hurting for money. Kanye is doing himself no favors by constantly bytching and whining to them. What billion dollar company would wanna work with someone who would be a constant headache. It wouldn't be worth the investment. I can imagine Kanye in the room with high end designers with years of experience saying some shyt like "I am the the best" "The shyt you been doing is wack" and what not. Hell Nike wasn't even having his shyt, the fukk he think LV or Fendi gonna do?

Lets look at the Air Yeezy's... I dont know much about the air yeezy I but those were limited editions probably around 3000 in existence... the shoe that everyone knows as the yeezy and that are actually on peoples feets are the yeezy II... The shoe is a collaborative effort between Kanye and some dude named Nathan VanHook... Nathan VanHook happens to be a well known sneaker designer who at this point is Nike's main sneaker designer... the dude who combined kanyes raw vision and made it a reality and functional and drew the designs, figured out the engineering is the one who got the show industry behind him and can push the button on any new sneaker he wants...

Thats how clothing industry works... they see a big difference between the dude who said 'make the ribs on the back bigger more ostentatious' and the guy who took the idea and turned it into 'the ribbed back is actually to support the heal but at the same time it’s also something that is super iconic and expressive'... i aint saying kanye aint deserve no credit... he does bring a lot, but he is not a designer in the traditional sense... so its hard to get big money behind him

Obviously not the connections he really needs. I'm definitely not a damn fashion expert or some shyt but you have to remember that these major fashion corporations started decades ago, and have grew into something of a major elite type of club. So it's not like these guys at the top are going to allow just anyone to shake up their industry.
Some of them started recently bruh. They don't and more importantly CAN'T stop new shyt from coming out. Stop talking about these imaginary boogeymen, Nobody is stopping Kanye from doing anything but Kanye.

No this is not really true, a lot of the big fashion guys have traditionally been divas... his diva antiques are not new, are expected, and in a way are kinda helping to support his image as a real designer...

Problem is just he doesn't want to put in the 10 year grind to get where he wants to get...

Look at Tommy Hilfiger he blew up after only about 10 years grinding... he did his own boutiques, had many stores, did a lot of his own cloth work, did designs for jordache and bonjour early on... but really blew up super huge pretty quick... the other fashion designers went diva on his ass...

'
Three months after the campaign was unveiled, a furious Klein confronted Lois at Mr. Chow. "Do you know it took me twenty years to get to the point where Tommy Hilfiger is today?!" the designer erupted in the crowded dining room. Lois calmly brushed aside Klein's finger and replied, "That's my job, schmuck. Why take twenty years if you can do it in twenty days?"

Hilfiger himself was by no means as confident as his ad campaign would suggest. "Everybody thought I was a complete jerk," he says feebly. "I considered leaving the business, because I thought I was doomed. I thought Calvin, Ralph, and Perry would somehow strong-arm Bloomies into not buying my line."'

10 years deep... numerous boutiques... numerous fashion lines for big names... and still it was a major event when hilfigure blew up that upset the fashion industry... now look at it today...
Does anyone still put Hilfiger on the level of a ralph lauren or calvin klien or even perry ellis? thats the point...

Yeah, but Kanye doesn't want to be Hillfiger, Lauren, Klein, Liz Claiborne or Lacoste. He wants to be Versace, Armani, or LV.

Two different levels, and to be in high fashion like that you have to be talked about for years. So he is campaigning against the fashion world in vain.

You think Ralph Lauren ain't on in and Calvin Klein didn't make it in high fashion??? hahahahaaaaa

Tommy Hilfiger didn't, which was kinda my point, even with everything Hilfiger did he didnt make it to a Ralph Lauren level long term, he rose up for a couple decades and came down...

But if you think Ralph Lauren didnt make it in high fashion u missed the memo, POLO is ralph lauren's 'low end' brand

Just because you are great at one thing doesn't make you great at everything.

Kanye West is to fashion what Michael Jordan was to baseball. Even the greatest basketball player of all time realized that maybe his true greatness was only in one area and not in baseball. Did you see Michael Jordan going on tirades because they wouldn't bring him up from Triple A fast enough?

Armani and Versace have more recognition with the mainstream in america... as far as who is turning heads in fashion shows in 2013, i dont know honestly
but versace took a big dive when gianni died and isnt really viewed the same anymore on the high end fashion scale...
I cant say who is top status these days, but they are all in the same ballpark and versace is closer to falling out of the top than ralph lauren

his problem is hes trying to go from 1-1000 in one shot. He wants to be aligned with the likes of Fendi, LV, and Versace and because he makes music he thinks he deserves a sub-brand with them:wtb:

Prove your stripes beyond some sneakers and a $200 white-T. Open a boutique or two in Italy, London or NYC. Develop a respectable line, develop an exclusivity following and maybe theyll hit you with the :patrice:

But he instead thinks lashing out at radio VJs like like unreared cattle is going to help..

lol

go look at the resumes of people who held the creative director positions that Kanye wants.

Google Hedi Slimane and Raf Simons ...these people have long histories of successful designs that caught the attention of the right people. They have backgrounds rooted in fashion and design, they have YEARS of work with elite design houses...they didn't make some "merch" in some store that sold out. They presented designs year in and year out that people liked enough to give them financial backing to create more lines. Raf been working for decades and only last year did he become creative director at Dior.

Why would a label like Fendi or w/e hand Kanye the reins of their brand? Point blank - his designs probably aren't as good as he thinks.
