Overrated. Lucky to go to a team where that offense coached itself, but if they had a real coach, woulda won more than 1 SB.
Here comes the Peyton Manning coalition. Was it Dungys fault that Manning threw 4 picks in 03?, Or 3 pts in 04, got held to 18 pts in 05? It shouldnt have been tbat because he threw a clear INT to Polamslu which was somehow overturned. Its Dungy fault that Manning couldnt beat SF at home in 07 or an 8-8 in 08 aa the so called MVP in the league?? Im gonna tell u what Dungy did do? He turned around one of the absolute worst franchises in sports and them.a legit contender. But according to Manning lovers, he cant coach. His defense dominated in the 06 playoffs so Manning could throw 3tds vs 7 ints and still win the Superbowl. Shutdown rhe rushing chamo, held the Ravens to 6 pts and picked off Brady to preserve the win. Only allowed 11 pts in the Superbowl(excluding Hesters td) forced 4 turnovers I believe and scored a defensive TD.

Was a QB in college for Minnesota, set records for them at the time. His was recruited by and mentored at that time by Tom Moore. Same Tom Moore who was Peyton's OC at Indy and who Dungy kept during his time there too.

He was the defensive coordinator for the Vikings waiting to get a HC job. Yearly topic of conversation of why he couldn't get a HC job. :mjpls:

His first opportunity was one of the worst franchises in Tampa Bay. :mjpls: They were complete trash. Completely turned them around and made them relevant and respectable. Got fired and then went to Indy

Put Indy over the hump. And finally got his championship. :obama:

Great man. Believed in having a balanced life. Didn't believe in staying up all night in the office game prepping, while you got a family at home. He felt you could be still effective working hard 8-9 hours a day, and then go home to your wife and kids. He brought his kids to the office while he worked. :obama:

On a sports talk show, the discussion was about offensive/defensive geniuses, gurus. One of the hosts said Tony Dungy told him one time, "there are no geniuses, it is all about the players you have". :obama:

Good coach and an even better man even if he did pick against my Saints in the Super Bowl against his former team.

He probably walked away from coaching a decade or so to early, he seemed to have a lot left.

The last 2 years proves he’s right too. The media was :noah: over the “genius” McVay last year. Just for him to still lose the big game. Andy Reid has always been a great coach but he moved on from Alex Smith and finally got a big time QB and then won his first super bowl

It has always been about the players.

Why do you think Nick Saban recruits the way he does at Alabama? He isn't so much of genius when the opposing team has the same amount of talent that he does (Clemson, LSU, the 2 games UGA choked away).

That sb win was vs Rex Grossman.:hubie:

Manning needed to be coached more. Dungy didn't coach him at all

And the AFCCG game was against an all time great in Tom Brady...

The same Rex Grossman whose team beat Drew Brees?

We weren't ready yet, I remember I was shocked we got as far as we did that year.

The Bears beating us was more about their defense than anything Rex Grossman done.
