if you listen to Mega without a beat then yes, he would sound technically proficient. he cant ride a beat though. he is like a less lyrical version of AZ with a less smooth flow and off-timing.

I don't know about that. I'll come back later wit some Mega songs where I think he's spittin very very well technically.

nice joints by Mega but some joints he is terrible on. although he is the better artist of the two....Nature was better technically and lyrically as well IMO.

I have a question though....it seems like the guys we should be listing are pioneers having created styles and flows or someone who later improved upon them. Like Kane, G Rap, and Ace should be in the top 20 without a doubt. Rakim and KRS it goes without saying also. Nobody is mentioning Slick Rick or Dana Dane though? LL in his heyday. MC Ren in his heyday. The muthafukkin D.O.C. Although GZA wasnt the best Wu-Tang member overall, he was the tightest technically. At the time most of these guys were on top of the game...they were also the most technical out of anyone that was out. As far as today....not sure if anybody tops Elzhi technically.

I think I mentioned Slick Rick in the original post. D.O.C is a good shout, he was very solid technically.

what does technical mean?

It's hard to define everything but in short basically the technical aspects of an MC, for instance voice, flows, clarity, flavor, lyrics, styles, possibly multies, wordplay, just all technical aspects that involve rappin and writin that don't include depth of a body of work, sales, impact, hits etc.

Its complex though cause it includes a lot of things , like pronunciation, cadence, emotion/inflections in the right places, structure etc.

Many MC's don't have it all though so comparing them is challenging. The best I've heard to me technically is Big Daddy Kane I think.
