5. Undertaker vs HBK and HHH
This is really one annual story, that has gone on for four years. It has produced two A+ matches, and two solid A's. The fact that its not about a belt, or a woman or anything makes a better. Its about being better, proving yourself, and doing the impossible. Makes for great watching, and the best display ever in the first taker/hbk entrances, the whole good vs evil thing. The discipline in the story they've shown is definitely the product of these 3 not allowing it to get fukked up. IDK if they'll be able to top it going forward.
4. Austin vs Rock, 1996 to mania xix
The series of ppv matches, they periodic clashes in their careers, the fact that they were built as equals, and that all roads led to that match...i dont think i need to go further.
3. The rock vs the corporation and HHH, leading to backlash 2000.
That was maybe a better payoff match than either of the next 2 on the list. The build up was sick, and the way they made sure you knew this was NOT hhh vs the rock...its the rock vs their entire family tree and corporation. They threw fukkin everyone at rock during the backlash match after screwing rock over and over. He was truly the peoples champion here.
2. Steve Austin vs Bret hart, survivor series 96 to wrestlemania 13, double turn.
The double turn is hard as hell to do, and to do this while keeping both away from the belts, and turning ultra face hitman by making him feel ripped off and disgusted by stone cold and his fanbase was amazing. Him rallying the hart foundation after this, making that heel stable, and austin rising because of the incredible mania 13 match was really tough to pull off, but they did it. Bret working heel made the turn even more believable. The crowd chanting the defeated austin's name made him a made man.
1. Breakup of the megapowers, and randy savage heel turn, wrestlemania iv to wrestlemania v
It bridged over an entire year...kids like myself were MONSTER megapowers fans, and everyone picked a side and you were either down with savage or pukamania. Produced maybe savages best promo ever, and they way they planted the seeds of the breakup was sick....the uneasy handshakes, and they payoff at mania 5 was incredible. Their best story ever.
