I hear ya.

With that said, Toronto rappers say they get bit more than people realize, especially given their proximity to New York. e.g. KRS rocking the Patois in many of his tracks.

KRS came down to Toronto in his early, early days. Even worked with up-and-coming rappers from the city. The West Indian population is massive down here. Some argue he took that Patois style from us.

real shyt

shyt is insular down here. There's zero attempt to be ill outside of just your clique.

The west indian population is bigger in ny than toronto:stopitslime:

The caribbean population in DC is even higher than Toronto.
Be stupid and think US brehs don't know what Patois is or mixing shyt like that is new.
Most NYC rappers have a caribbean background. Most of y'all have Caribbean parents, a half caccent, and struggle to hold on to a culture you were never a part of, islands you only see on vacation. Cacs vacation in the 3rd world, too.

These same cats were standing in front of MTHC buildings in Rexdale and Scarborough rapping to generic boom bap beats in the late 90s, they were spitting struggle punchlines over generic Dipset soul sample beats in the mid 00s, and today theyre spitting autotuned lyrics over trap beats

Haven't pressed play yet but I'll make three guesses.

Drake influenced.
It's dark.
Future flow.

Now I'll press play.

EDIT: This is just trash. :francis:
