It's just not a good album.

Jay is really riding off his name, affiliated acts, beyonce at this point.

Anybody after Obama low key ethered him no more "Obama on the text" lines :mjpls:

Is it lyricially in relation to his other albums?:leostare:

Cuz like I said I can prove by track by track comparisons that its one of Jay's better albums lyrically and substantially:whoo:

U wanna try me? :mjpls:

Or just admit MCHG went ova ya head and that ur a cac that hates black excellence :myman:

I'm a big Hov fan too and this album is just too immature & cringeworthy coming from a 43 year old, Hov should not be making this kind of album anymore.

Hearing Jay-z jump on the Trap wave, use the played out Asap Rocky flow, hearing the Future adlib & pandering to ratchets in general when he should be above it at this point in his career negated all the other ''maturity.'' Also the quality of the mature songs is weak and doesn't do enough to save the album, 6 years later im still listening to Lost ones, i don't think i will be saying the same in 6 weeks for any of the ''mature'' songs on here.

what does that even mean. Oh wait I remember, she's a stan. Wonder what she thought about Life Is Good.

MCHG is wack lyrically. It's basically a bunch of producers saying "hey Hov try this beat, it's hard mode!" and Jay failing to catch the beat. Then they all act like shyt is dope. meh

:pachaha: pos rep'd u for that brah

God's Plan
I think he knows hes been pegged as a Jay-z dikk rider and is trying to switch it up. Same guy who SWALLOWED Blueprint3 so....

I mean he really doesn't understand the line 'I don't pop molly, I rock Tom Ford' ?? It's not about an 'either/or' it is Jay-z saying he isnt interested in drugs, hes interested in clothes. Who cares if the album starts out with a singer

the rapping on bp3 wasn't as weak as mchg. lyrically, this is some of his weakest material. thats the argument many jay fans r making.

All the hiphop sites/magazines gave it good reviews (4 mics+) except 1 if I recall right :dahell:
A whole lot better response from the hiphop community than BP3 & KC (obviously people were expecting a classic comeback, while not as good as AG) and a whole lot worse commercial/cac response than BP3.

I feel that the people who usually fukks with Hov for songs like Show me what you got, ESOM, Run This Town etc don't like it. And Hipsters are not fukkin with it either.

Politics imo. They don't want to give Jay a bad review out of fear. Hiphopdx gave BP3 4 stars too.

The shyt is wack.

They could've given it 3.5 like they gave Kingdom Come.

If you read hiphopdx review compare it to some other like daily newspaper that put out a review before the album dropped officially. I even saw USATODAY gave it 5/5 after it just leaking, I don't trust these papers. Indie (hipster) music magazines and hiphop sites are the ones I look at.

You'll see hiphopdx focusing on bars, flow, production, meaning of the songs, punchlines and the other ones having 50-60% of their review about his references to white people, samsung and what he's doing outside the booth. While hiphopDx wasn't the best, I saw some other hiphop reviews going into more detail about the MC-aspects of the album, which some reviews totally neglected to do. And I respect reviews, I respect Pitchfork and these people even though they have odd ratings in hiphop sometimes like giving Untitled 3.8/10 and Chief Keef 7.5/10, they usually get the larger point across, but never the emceeing aspect of hiphop. Which is why Kanye can dominate reviews with an album like Yeezus.

The rapping on Bp3 was the same shyt, in fact I'll even go out on a limb and say this album is better because of songs where he is actually saying something other than 'ON TO THE NEXT ONE' or 'RUN THIS TOWN'

Yeah 3.5 is way generous as well. KC was bad. This shyt boring.

I'm a massive Jay fan. Everything on the album is weak. The beats are boring, he's not spitting either. It's not a good effort from him.
