I don't gamble so I never really got the appeal of Las Vegas
I was last there 7-8 yrs ago and by most accounts people think it's worse now
There are a LOT of dusty areas in las vegas with homeless and just a hood vibe to it, it's full of degenerates and desperate people, full of tourists, prices where there are actually things to do are overpriced, it's hot as shyt for half the year, it's in the middle of nowhere having to drive 3+ hours for anything outside the city
So many states have their own casinos now, and vegas is isolated and overpriced. What's the appeal to the average person?

They still do but they limited the amount of cocktail waitresses on the gaming floor.
Back then, a waitress was always around. Today, they got one working a bigger area which means you’re going to be waiting for almost 30 minutes for that free beer/shot but if you tip well, she will be back faster and more frequently.
This was to counter the cheap skates that stay on the penny slots playing only a cent just to get “free” drinks.
