Because Vegas tries to nickel and dime people at every opportunity.......and the overwhelming majority of people that are in Vegas dont have high roller pockets

Hotels putting sensors in the fridges and charging you $25 for a 20oz water bottle will keep people away.

Me and a group of friends go every year but it’s gotten absurd with the prices. It’s like corporate America intentionally doesn’t want to provide a middle ground option for people.

Only started going to Vegas in 2018 so I may have missed “peak Vegas” and started going when prices started creeping up. I’ve been 4 times since, last time being earlier this year and I wouldn’t say it’s “dead” but it definitely didnt have the same energy as the previous 3 trips. Less people as well

Now a days I’d rather go to Miami if I’m gonna be spending a grip. At least you get the beach and an overall better nightlife experience spread throughout the city

Triple zero on roulette.

:mjlol:

6/5 payout on blackjack.

:mjlol:

They’ve rigged all the games. RFID chips in cards.

:mjlol:

All kinds of fees added to getting a room increasing the price by 20 to 30%.

:mjlol:

No more free drinks.

:mjlol:

Vegas fell off. I used to go pretty regularly.

:francis:

I have 4 casinos less than 30 minutes away in San Diego if I really want to gamble. Not to mention sport betting is on phones now.

Why the decline? Because private equity happened.

Private equity said fukk the budget-friendly Vegas vacation of the 80s, 90s, 2000s and early 2010s. They cut costs on everything while simultaneously making everything 10x more expensive.

When all the juice is sucked out of the fruit, the private equity parasite will move on to its next victim and Vegas will be a decaying carcass of what it once was, similar to what happened to Atlantic City.

While this is eloquently written, it’s not entirely accurate::manny:
  • Private equity has invested in Vegas since the 1990s, and especially during the 2000s (e.g., Harrah’s). In fact, PE was partially responsible for the shift away from pure gambling toward more experience-based and family-friendly offerings.
  • Atlantic City’s decline had little to do with private equity and almost everything to do with Donald Trump. In the 1990s, just as AC was trying to grow and compete with Las Vegas, Trump actively pressured politicians to block any developments that might compete with his casinos. Including an out-of-state train and more high-end properties

Only go there for work conventions
Company paid flight + hotel (excalibur and treasure island tier, but still on the strip) + food = no brainer
Other than that, no thanks
bullshyt resort fees, 400 degree oven feel even at night, scammers and scumbags on every corner, gawkers and tik tokers stopping every 3 seconds when you're trying to get somewhere= I'm good
Ace was always right

You got me on the first point. The second point, I wasn't saying that AC went under because of PE, I was saying Vegas is going to turn into a decaying wasteland like AC is now. Atlantic City is Camden with a boardwalk.

I saw the triple zero on my last trip out there. shyt had me like :dahell:

Some places are still respectable when it comes to free drinks and casino hospitality, but its not what it used to be.

The Truth
Honestly Hawaii has nicer beaches and a more chill vibe, plus mountains and shyt.

Lotta places got gambling now. If I really wanna make some money on slots, I just go to Choctaw in Oklahoma. Hotel/food/drinks are good enough and it's a short drive north. Don't even have to stay the night.

Millenials and Gen Z probably do sports betting and gambling on the phone more.

We all watched "21" and know casinos aren't really there for YOU to make money. If you find a loophole, them fukkers will close it.
Who brought up Hawaii?

I lived at both for awhile so it’s all depending on your preference.

I was just asking if Miami gotten shyttier or something because I haven't heard that. Most people that live in Miami always had complaints

Hell its even worse:

Poverty Rate-
Camden: 29%
AC: 32%

Crazy to think that Atlantic City did not become 'Vegas', considering its proximity to NY/PHI/DC/BAL.

Trump let his casinos go into bankruptcy (with no recourse to his finances of course), and AC was left with the wasteland that he created. Truly a despicable person.

This. You used to be able to do a weekend in vegas for under a G. Now you gotta spend 3-4k if you wanna have a decent room, good food, shop/gamble a little. That's not even including shows.

People just ain't got it in this economy.
Is it that or things like being charged $45 for a pitcher of tap water at a restaurant, or $25 for bottle of water from the room

Vegas was built on swindling people. Unfortunately the mafia had more respect for it's customers in the past than the now corporations do.
