The Seal thread got me thinking.

Why was she never as appreciated in the black community? I read online that she donated to the Malcolm X movie when it was being made. :ehh:

Was it because of how she looked (at least back then) or the content of her songs? Was it just too "folky" for people to get at that time?

I still remember In Living Color making fun of her :russ::mjcry:

I didnt really listen to the music till about 4 or 5 years ago.

She has very deep lyrics :manny:

The overwhelming majority of Black Americans belonging to some sort of religion and Tracy being an atheist and open lesbian might have something to do with it

Some of her songs do go hard.

Black Community never really fukked with Terrence Trend D'arby neither breh, both are amazing black artist.

She goes hard, and all the way in on these cacs ass though she's subtle with it but with very clear messages.
I think she's great and very talented. Id been meaning to collect her shyt.
I put her in the same bracket and category as Lauryn Hill after she realized a lot of things.
Sad the Black community ran from her, but here we are now stuck with the likes of Dej Loaf and Nicki..

Sorry
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like sorry like sorry

Forgive me
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like forgive me forgive me

But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time
You'd be mine

I love you
Is all that you can't say
Years gone by and still
Words don't come easily
Like I love you I love you

But you can say baby
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time
You'd be mine
