I like both.

I grew up on boom bap....but I ain't afraid to admit on a big ass system in the whip or even messing around with trap beats on the tables with serato that shyt go way too hard b....way too hard. It makes boom bap sound dusty and dated in comparison.

Alright, I saw Danny Brown last year at Afro Punk...majority of his new stuff is trap basically...shyt is like that tear the club up mosh pit music. Like seriously....I lose my mind to that shyt. I'm a grown ass man too so I have to turn shyt down a couple of notches now...LOL.

if i played instrumentals of 2 random trap mixtapes they would all sound the same  im not talking about 90s boom bap either. modern sampled rap>>>>>>>>>>

eh... at some point people need to create original compositions. especially when the sample sources shark you for that publishing

I like both tho, but as someone who makes beats, samples are restrictive imo. for the most part

'Old' grew on me crazily. Particularly the trappy stuff. But he kinda mixes cloud/EDM into his beats as opposed to that orchestral, Luger stuff.

boom bap goes harder in the whip.

most trap beats be having those empty drums, that arent even geared for the whip. most of that stuff is made for headphones.

the modern era 808s and heavy bass is why more entertaining then the old school dusty snare heavy boom bap sound

imo the soul sample era is the goat

I'll say this though...if you a rapper and can't spit over a boom bap beat...get the fukk out the game for real. That's the proving ground for real rappers IMO.

Trap beats, these rappers be throwing they asses out with double time, triple time, quadruple time flows. And that shyt all originated from the South and the Midwest for the most part. Some of these dudes be wasting these good ass beats with some garbage ass see and spell lyrics.
