Coincidentally, my Mexico trip is a wedding.
After the return from Mexico, I work several days followed by the flight out to DR.
If you do go to DR, don't be in a committed relationship.
I imagine Panama is just as dope, but I won't find out until this December. I could follow this up with a field report.....

Which city are you flying to? San Juan?
If you are staying in San Juan, make sure to check out the fortelezas in Viejo San Juan.
Also in San Juan is Plaza Las Americas, the largest mall in the Caribbeans. You have to check it out.
Condado is the trendiest district in San Juan.
Be sure to eat at Piu Bello on Avenida Isla Verde.
Be sure NOT to wander into La Perla like I almost did
Came back from Spain 2 weeks ago, for my 31st, love traveling alone.....I don't know if I even want to travel with anyone, bringing a girl with you to Europe....would be frustrating to say the least, even if you are just casual. I always stay in 5 star spots, but no extra tourist shyt, no buses, no tours, nothing like that...Stay in places that locals like, eat street food, and Michelin Star places, get lost in the city, stay up til morning.....Don't spend time in tourist trap bar or clubs, or resturaunts. I love Europe, having only been Paris, Cannes, St. Tropez, Nice, Monaco, and Spain, I struggle to come up with things I like about the US when I come home.....
The women you'll meet some you'll see again, others you won't, this Moroccan girl I met is still on my mind, stunningly gorgeous, cool, charming...I can't wait to go to Casablanca....

La Perla is number 1.
There are projects (caserios) at the end of Avenida Isla Verde, I almost walked into those as well
I kicked it in Santurce some, but it really helps to have some Spanish. The further in land you go, the less (or no English) the people speak.
See if you can either pick up or make some friends for connects. That helps a lot.
