And honestly I think this "both sides" fantasy shyt is hurting his development. This isn't HS or college. These are grown men with elite physical skills...you're not gonna be able to play on both sides effectively across a 17 game season lol. And the danger for Travis is that IF he ends up under performing on both sides this season, you can bet your ass the coaches are gonna dead that experiment next year.

First round receivers who don't hit certain metrics don't last long. Only a few guys like that end up being well on the team that drafted them. Jameson Williams comes to mind, and he had a super late season ACL injury in college so that first year and a half was basically a mulligan. Flip side Xavier Legette got people on his ass right now, and he's only in year two.

And a lot of that is on Travis and Deion. Travis for being goofy and being so steadfast on it, and prime for allowing it and killing his development.

I don’t think people realize what Prime did. In any other timeline Travis goes to Bama/Georgia/LSU/OSU with other dogs with just as much nfl prospects, so he woulda had to pick a side by sophomore year and he would have developed and been a stud pause. Especially at WR those schools hardly ever miss on 5 stars.

But bc Deion had this lil thing Travis bought in and now he’s underdeveloped at least on offense.

He won the Heisman, dawg. And was the 2nd pick

Prime literally put him in the best position for success

coach claimed there was a personal reason "in house" why trav didnt play defense the 2nd half. Any idea what it is?

When I was listening to Liam’s presser he said that he expected the 9ners to be run heavy, so with Travis being so small, they thought it would be better to keep him off the field so he wouldn’t get targeted in the running game.

He’d also be 10-15lbs heavier with muscle.

They should let Travis focus on being an elite CB.

Get to at least Pro Bowl, borderline All-Pro level. At that point he may be too valuable to run out at WR, but you can at least create special packages for him.

He's a great athlete but not a freak. Even Prime mostly played DB and only got a few snaps here and there on offense. He played a lot of WR for Dallas in 1996 when Irvin was out a few games....but this was when Prime was 8 years in the league. Lotta nuance to playing WR and it's hard to learn if you're playing both ways.

Only 4 games into his rookie year trying to do something unprecedented. Any conversation about him at this point is very premature. The conversation should start and end at “they’re still trying to figure it out”

And it’s Jacksonville. They’re still trying to figure out Trevor Lawrence and just figured it out with Travon Walker and Travis Etienne. Something about those Tr names….

2) Ngga you not playing both ways full time. :snoop: NFL players can barely get thru a season. He’s already frail, plus he’d be a walking soft tissue injury

I was wrong…it ended up being his knee, not soft tissue.

He didn’t play over 65% offensive snaps all year…. until they announce they were going to ‘increase his workload’, so he plays back to back games over 70% offensive snaps and voila he’s on IR

This is such a failure on so many levels. It starts with Deion bc remember, the only reason this was ever a thing is bc Deion used it to recruit him. No P5 school would have let this foolishness go that far. You think Devin Hester, or Charles Woodson, or Trevon Diggs, etc couldn’t have played both sides full time if they wanted? Of course they could, they just weren’t foolish enough to try. The hubris of it all is just silly.

Letting a naive 21 year old potentially harm his future I blame Prime and the nfl coaches who were too scared to check him. And the fans who co-signed it yall goofy too.

The school matters.

Hester, Woodson and Diggs went to The U, Michigan and Bama respectively.

They went to those schools when each was loaded with talent. Much easier to stay in your lane when you know there's 5-star brehs at each position you're trying to play.

Travis at UGA, tOSU, Texas etc, would have been a DB first, maybe some PR/KR duty and limited packages on offense.

I think breh will be OK. He's gotta add a little muscle and focus on one position. Reduce the wear on his body.

Travis was making minimum wage when you broke it down per snap at Colorado :mjcry:

Absolutely. I mentioned that earlier, and that’s why it falls on Prime bc that was the 1 thing JSU could offer that other schools wouldn’t

As far as his body pause that’s a misconception that he needs to just “add a little muscle”. No, he needs to add MASS. And that’s extremely hard to do at this stage. Reggie bush comes to mind. If it were that easy he woulda did it and been an all time back. But he didn’t/couldn’t and was relegated to a part time back. Body composition matters also. Some dudes are more lean by nature aka light in the ass.

The time to add mass was in weight lifting programs in college. I saw it firsthand with my cousin who played D1 football. Between graduating Hs in June and seeing him the next year he was JACKED. College is actually more geared toward weight lifting than the nfl is. NFL is about recovery. You don’t get to the nfl and get jacked. If anything you gradually increase over some years but definitely not one off-season
