@Basaglia killing yall with facts in here. I'm tired of this lame narrative that duke players don't get to or do well in the league when we have the most players in the league, highest salary, etc, etc. Not everyone is going to be a star, but producing guys who are league ready/mature/professional and primed to have long/lucrative careers? no one is touching duke/coach K in that regard.

What kills me is how shocked, or worst, concerned, they are when top kids pick Duke. Like, nah, K and the staff goes on the in-home visits armed with FACTS.

"This is the average salary of a Duke player"

"This is what our guys do after their career"

"We only work with the best agents and financial advisors to prepare for life after ball" (You ain't see our guys get swindled by some damn fool named Tank Black)

"This is where the average Duke player goes in the draft"

"Percentage of McDonald's AA that make it to the league"

this is BUSINESS. this ain't about who y'all LIKE and CHEER for. FOH!!!

Should have went to Zona. Duke will work out well for him though.

why zona? at duke he has to share PG duties with no one other than allen who will maybe play 5-10 min a game at PG to spell him. At zona, he's gonna split minutes with PJC and have to deal with a ball-dominant guard in trier who cannot score w/o the ball. alkins may be back as well. Not to mention, no legit/proven shooing threats at zona. You know how many assists he will get driving and kicking to allen, tucker, and trent? and none of those guys have to touch the ball all the time to score even though allen and trent can iso score as well. allen was getting almost 4 assists a game playing PG passing to kennard and jackson; imagine how many easy shots allen will now get playing next to duval (allen is an equal shooter to kennard imo; kennard had so many easy looks off allen and jackson's penetration). it's a dream situation for duval imo.

How many HS stars need to go to Duke only to underachieve in the pros for people to throw that Coach K system to the bushes?

Yeah I know.
Bbbbut Kyrie and Grant....

@Basaglia already schooled you on this propaganda/lies

I was thinking Seton Hall or UK could've been good spots for him too. But the pg spot at Duke is wide open so he should be able to put in work there

all that needs to be said especially with the players that will be around him. Starting lineup will be perfect/more traditional with duval/allen/trent/carter/bolden

If you leave early before Coach K can Duke up your game you'll be good. Anyone who stays longer for 2 years rarely becomes a good pro. Coach K turned Chris Duhon, Seth Curry, and Sean Dockery to complete roll players. Seth is just now starting to break out of it

again more lies that @Basaglia already trumped. chris duhon was never gonna be a star and was a in the league for a decade. seth curry was never a star and put up great shooting numbers on and off the ball his last year at duke on a bum leg. he's getting nba checks b/c of his exposure at duke. dockery is a bit more tricky. his game never suited duke to me given his lack of a jumper. he's someone who would've been more suited at somewhere like zona. he still stays bigging up duke on social media all the time and is working for the spurs. doubt he would be in that position save for his time/connections with duke.

Unless he's an aggressive 6'10 low post player, I don't see them being better than last years team

you do know we have wendell carter committed right? and mo bamba is still in play

Damn they really kicked Thornton for Frank Jackson only to force him to the draft for Duval. This one and done recruiting game is serious af. Either you get with the program or get lost.

thornton didn't get forced out, he would've had more than enough playing time at PG if he wanted to stay and compete w/ jackson. Would've made him a better player if he was patient. And jackson is not getting forced out either, where the hell are you coming up with that? jackson played plenty and is a SG. I don't consider him a PG or even a combo guard with his terrible vision/PG skills. I didn't want him on this team (was hoping for dennis smith or thornton to stay) and he would've gotten more shine next year if he stayed playing off ball and then as PG behind duval. He and his dad (mostly his dad) wanted to be OAD regardless. He knew that duke had been recruiting duval, there's no situation where he's been forced out. If you wanna talk about forcing players out/overrecruiting them, then go look at Cal and Kentucky.

Again, Nolan was a 6-2 off guard who got drafted in the first round, low 20s. Where else is that happening?

And Dex was considered the star of that team and BETTER than Ky and MKG. Just because he fell off that don't mean he wasn't highly thought of previously. He was ranked ahead of Wall for fukk's sake.

RSCIhoops

And I am eternally grateful Duke didn't get Boynton. We'd be blame for him being trash, too. Leslie McDonald, too.

Alternate Facts. Dexter was never considered the star of St. Pats, once Kyrie came in the picture and MKG was the top dog since the 8th grade. Ranked ahead of Wall? Wall who? ESPN: #5 Top PG Strickland: #27 Seventh ranked SG.

Scout: Wall # 2 Top PG Strickland #33 8th ranked SG

Rivals: Wall #1 player in the nation. Strickland: #34 9th SG

So quick rundown. Kyrie: Top PG. MKG: Top player Strickland: 7th/8th/9th. Again, Strick was the man Freshman to early Junior year. As soon as Kyrie came, his star dropped. Like this is what I do. I've been covering these kids for a while now. I just was in Atlanta for the Nike EYBL session, and I'll be at Pangos All-American Camp in a few weeks. I'm going to switch to the Adidas Circuit after.

Back to the topic because I don't know why we're talking about bums. @funkee: Plenty of what I said about Duke in the college thread ended up being right on the money, especially when it came to Tatum/Giles. You nikkas turned this to Duke versus the world, when I said this is an issue everywhere. Trevon is the truth, but you're going to see. I'm done with this topic.

Bruh, you so in a rush to be right, you ant even bother looking at the 2009 pre-summer and summer rankings when Dex was highly rated...even above John Wall by some.

Let's not pretend UNC fans weren't poplockin about Knox 5-6 weeks ago. I don't even feel like diggin up the thread where UNC fans were partying about the kid. And I knew they weren't getting him. Theo done lettin people get drafted before him.

ITS THEO TIME!!!

Always end up with a long ass reply somehow. You're not wrong, that's why I said Strick was that dude from the beginning, but I've made my point so it's old news. John Petty was the top SG for a few years, very underrated and I think he was a McDonald's snub, ended up dropping his senior year. He was ranked higher than Gary Trent at one point too. You know what's funny? I don't even believe in these media rankings, and I have my own lists from watching them live. These rankings are a bunch of politics anyway.

@young3000: Don't sleep, it could actually happen. Duke was Bamba's favorite early, but UK and Texas recruited him hard. Trevon is his favorite PG, and said he would love to play with him before Tre actually committed. It's going to be Duke vs UK again.

I don't think we are, but he's def not out of play from what i've been reading. i feel that it's texas still. i won't be disappointed anyway, we alreadt have a legit more cohesive starting 5 with defined roles compared to the clusterfukk that this last year ended up being. bamba would just be cake right now.
