We get wat she means but in 2016 it's pretty damn stupid. Especially since the line between singing and rapping is getting progressively blurred.

Being Multi-talented shouldn't be a hinderence to gaining credibility in the rap game.

...but the fans have been saying this forever ....Lauryn sang way too much on that album. As legendary as that album is and as good as it sounds she was always on the fence with a lot of people because of her singing. Remember these conversations were before Future and his clones came in with the singing rap as standard that we have today.

Growing up, during the Fugees, I always thought of her as a singer who raps. All of the Fugees' commercial successes had her singing on them, she was in Sister Act 2, etc.

Lol at growing up. Before the fugees made it big with the score nobody even knew on their first album she was in sister act 2. This is like calling jeezy a singer cause u saw him singing in a church movie.

She was considered a rapper before miseducation came out. Then ever since then people act like the prior perception of her doesnt exist. Preemo was originally gonna produce on miseducation and she was in talks to have RZA produce the album at first.

I said "growing up" because I was a kid during the Fugees era. My parents are fans and for the most part, Lauryn Hill's singing stood out more than her rhymes when I was listening to the music. I'm conceding to the fact that I wasn't old enough to know how she was perceived in the Hip-Hop community

I'm still standing by my statement that most of her commercial highlights before Miseducation had to do with her singing.
