when we, the particpants and fans who enjoy the music, turn it around into something else - we lose focus on what it means to us. I dont worry about the agency an actor is with, what studio made a film, or how much its raking in the box office, when all I want to do is watch the kind of movie I like and enjoy it.
its wild to me when fans turn this hip hop thing into numbers and money that someone else is profiting off of. acting like the money (someone elses) being made is more important than the music. all of a sudden its like we're doing accounting and marketing strategies for them. soon we are going to start extrapolating and analyzing the factors of first quarter sales, resizing the pie chart for more proportional distribution amongst teens, count up how many white boy djs will be spinning this, multiply the seasonal influence, and calculate if urban radio plays it before 8 pm
it aint fun. the music is about feeling it, and not looking too deep into the other side and using that as a means to validate the music. millions buy beiber, but I could give a fukk. everyone wants to be getting a glimpse at the appropriate forms to make sure that the numbers are correct before we cosign it.
so many fans go ahead and scold, cheer, and rally behind a man who can play politics better than someone else, or create memes and hop aboard a new bandwagon when the music isnt even that hot. and they dont even defend the music, they defend those who "play the game" and start to do numbers or gain attention.
shyt is hitting me like ... why? fans have turned into A&Rs, but to no real positive effect. its not changing anything, in fact, its celebrating the numbers game over the music. fukk all that.
I dont sweat a movie/album/video game based on what the creators said about the numbers they did or didnt do, if they partnered with the right companies for cross promotions, or if they handled their business like a marketing/accounting major. its not what I care about.
is the movie/music/ video game good?

so articles like this are tripping on its whole premise, because all in all its stripped out the quality of the product, in order to tell you to support someone who played politcs and business smartly. all the while ignoring the quality of what we are looking at.
this is all a marketing trick as well, as they try to get everyone involved in numbers and chart positions instead of if they like it or not. they cheer on the workings and hustle behind the product nowadays as a means of getting
you to get behind it. its all nonsense. has nothing to do with the music, and all in all its a part of whats wrong with the game.
