You could really do a 5 part miniseries like Roots on this dude.
I'll co-sign. There was NO NEED for Triple H in the summer of Punk. People were willing to forgive them rushing Punk back because he was the hottest thing on the show in years and garnered outside attention. But then he went out on his back 4 PPVs in a row after Trips got involved in, and the fans are fed a clearly bullshyt excuse about how it was meant to get him over.
It's rare moments like that where you understand why the man left like he did.

In the Punk and Daniel Bryan cases both of those guys were already more over than HHH ever was in his career. Punk got the first organic (e.g. non-celebrity storyline driven) mainstream attention on the product in almost a decade and Bryan got over at a level not seen since prime Austin and Rock. Both guys were clearly on the way to pass Cena as the #1 guy in the company. Hell Cena had even already put them over.
Punk gets a lot of shyt for his attitude and demeanor but I'd be mad as fukk and dip out too if I not only reached for the brass ring, but also got it and had a guy who is no longer even a full timer still hanging on his glory years fukking up the prime of my career.
