Remember when he did the fake retirement gimmick and nobody gave a fukk? That stuck with him. He was always envious of the adulation The Rock and Stone Cold received. He believed he was on their level. People hated him. NXT turned it all around for Triple H. He became the "voice of the fans" while McMahon was going insane. But then he lost NXT, went through more turmoil, went through health scares, etc. Now he's pretty much turning into washed McMahon creatively but without a backbone and a misunderstanding for why families are important to the product.

It's insane that he successfully rebuilt his image and within a year or so, he's going to destroy it completely. He started getting lazy and writing on cruise control because he built up so much goodwill in the last couple years. The product is in a bizarre place right now because it's not the same kind of bullshyt as 2018-2019, but it's nowhere near as compelling as it was last year. Add in the injuries/pregnancies (the women's division suffered from this severely), the repetition on steroids, and the fact that everyone just feels more worn out, and you have this blandness.

Last year wasn't compelling, take away the final boss stuff and all you have is Cody/Drew and the big 3 fallout. The most frustrating thing about the big 3 debacle is that HHH ruined it just to protect his 2 favorite women in Rhea & Iyo. I would argue that the product is just as bad as 2019 and nowhere as good as 2022. HHH booking for pops instead of storytelling really burned off what could've been a year's worth of stories.

They did it by who his opponents are. Stone Cold never really changed to become a babyface either. He was still the same guy but he had different opponents and a deck stacked against him to try to overcome the odds, thus making him a big babyface. That's the route they've gone with Roman but they took away some of the strengths that made him a must watch guy. They've stripped him of his promos and backstage fukkery. That was 50% of what The Bloodline was about.

Last year, you had Liv's rise to the main event, the Judgment Day splitting up, Solo taking over the Bloodline, Jacob's debut, Punk/Seth, Nia and Tiffany as partners (which was Tiffany at her most entertaining), Chelsea's antics, New Day turning on Big E, Bronson killing Seth, Kevin Owens becoming a psycho heel again. Samantha still had a job there. RAW was structured way better because it was still on TV. There was a lot of good stuff that they dropped the ball on this year. That's why the Netflix debut and WrestleMania were so disappointing, because they could have and should have been all-time events worth talking about years from now.
