I've never really seen the insult in calling someone the guy who works with the guy. That's a fukking honor, truthfully. Trips was my DUDE during the Attitude Era, moreso than Rock and Austin because he was an incredible heel. And that pop during his return from the quad injury cannot be faked. I got love for Cornette, but on this? fukk you, breh.

I wanna hear a non-PC answer from Austin as to why he didn't want to drop the title to Triple H in '99........hopefully he addresses it on his podcast

Solid DVD, can't stand his character but maybe that's why he's always been fun as hell to root against. I may have my feelings about certain favorable booking decisions he's had but i'd NEVER question his work ethic, he's not as natural of a talker as an Austin/Rock nor as smooth in ring as an HBK/Eddie/he who shall not be named but he worked his ass off to improve to being a solid overall performer at one point. And nobody can question his heart and grit, the idea of not just one but 2 torn quads is :whoa: status. His heart seems in the right place, once he's done as an in ring performer I think his wrestling mind will fully be utilized

I was at that Summerslam in 99, I don't remember everything to the detail but I recall it was a semi HHH crowd with Austin being the fave obviously. Foley winning sucked the air out of the building because it for sure felt like they were about to crown Hunter that night going into the event. Seems like there has always been "something" between those two.

I was young when this happened, but looking back at it Triple H was gaining momentum during his "My Time" phase, and putting the title on him at Summerslam seemed right. But hearing that story about how Austin wanted Foley to pin him to lose to the title and then have Foley drop it the next night had me like :what:

As for the full documentary, I just got done watching it and it was quite good. I mean they DID leave out SOME details, like the relationship between him and Chyna and how he was fukking both Stephanie and that man-female at the same time :scusthov:

I mean shyt, Chyna said in that Howard Stern interview that EVERYBODY in the company knew him and Steph were fukking on the low..even Vince..but not her :russ:

But other then that the doc was cool, I am still :ohhh:they had Taker break kayfabe and speak about Hunter. And he didn't do that for NOBODY, not even Rock, Austin, Foley, or even HBK. So for Taker to take some out and speak about Hunter for his documentary must mean he has A LOT of respect for him :wow:

At the end of the day, u smarks can hate him all u want, but when it's all set and done you HAVE to respect Triple H for what he did for the wrestling business regardless of his backstage politics. What he is doing now behind the scenes is whats good for the long run, especially with bringing back the tag division and repackaging superstars, and the whole NXT thing. The E is in safe hands with Triple H as the leader....

We hope :merchant:

Triple H didn't seem angry about it, and neither did Foley, although Foley did say he thought it was "strange" and that "The first title win probably would have had more meaning if Stone Cold had put Triple H over the night before at Summerslam." Austin didn't speak about it on the DVD.

Austin didn't speak about Triple H period besides scenes from his own documentary...which i found quite odd...

Austin did quite a lot of politicking in 99. He nixed the original plan for WrestleMania which was supposed to be Rock/Austin/Foley, he wouldn't work a RAW program with Jeff Jarrett, and he wouldn't put HHH over at Summerslam.

Hmm I never knew that...

This your first time hearing about the Foley story? That's been known almost from inception. Cripple H wasn't over like that to be going over Austin clean. Rock had all momentum in the company. Austin vs Rock at WM 2000 in Anaheim was where the money was at. Cripple H and his whole push wasn't even necessary.

Foley wasn't gonna be apart of no Mania 15 main event. He was a distraction until Austin was freed up.

Straight from Foley's book - "Foley Is Good."

I went back and read and it wasn't Austin who nixed the idea....it was HBK.

Foley mentions it was supposed to be Rock vs. Austin vs. Foley at WrestleMania 15 for the title, but Shawn Michaels (wow, a common theme. Go figure) convinced Vince that the WrestleMania main event HAD to be a one on one match, so as not to ruin tradition. Somehow this got through and Mick was left with the Big Show at WrestleMania. The interesting thing is that apparently HBK wasn't lobbying for Foley to be left out of the main event, but The Rock. HBK wanted Foley vs. Austin at WM 15, but he didn't get his way and Rock vs. Austin became history.

Well, I'm glad it was Rock/Austin. The other interesting thing about this is that just the next year Mania 16, the main event was a Fatal Four-way Match, therefore breaking the all important "tradition" HBK insisted was needed. And to make matters even more interesting, who do you think it was who convinced management that WrestleMania XX NEEDED to be a triple threat for the belt? I mean, there was really no reason for Michaels to be in that match, especially if he felt so strongly about WrestleMania tradition.

Great documentary and has changed my opinion of HHH quite a bit. You can tell he worked his **** off get where he is today and has a huge love for the business. I used to hate HHH as a kid during the attitude era as he was such a good heel and would always sneak a win over your favourite guy.

Looks like he's also found a perfect role in the company on the board. The fact that the whole NXT set up is his idea gives me a lot of confidence that the business is gonna grow under him. All this "Vince is training him up" stuff - it appears to me that HHH might even have a better mind for the business than Vince (don't get me wrong though, I think cokeboy is the man :whoa:)

Doc was pretty good. The Austin and Punk ones that came out recently were better imo. You can see he puts in OT to be the man, which is cool. Seeing how red hot the crowds were for him and the rock in 2000 was awesome. I forgot how huge that was. The DX reunion was really hard to watch. I don't remember it being that corny and bad.

I had to pause it for a minute when he starts talking about the film careers tho. Sayin Vince asked him AND Rock to be movie stars and him squirming around saying he turned it down. Yeeeeugh. Painful to watch.

Overall pretty decent project from the E. 3 Zeus Slaps.

The WWE is in trouble when he takes over..these NXT facilities. ..his talent evaluations. They aren't proven...McMahon's ways are. McMahon knows how to talk to investors and partners. .marketers. All of that...Cripple H is just a comedian with a few ideas. McMahon created WM and so many gimmicks..got Jim Johnson for theme songs. There is nothing fake the genius label on him. Working out and loving wrestling does not mean u are a legitimate heir to the WWE empire.
