me
People like yourself were talking this song up saying how it was one of the best stories
and whatnot. I heard it, and I don't agree. The story was shocking, that's it.
There are hella story raps that are better than it.

Idk man. I feel like the shocker makes for a better story, but that's just me.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven

nipsey explained it perfect.

this!!! you gotta understand how much money it takes to drop a nationwide album.. just to make the album is a 10k and above

if you got no backing.. you think you getting it in best buy, walmart and the big stores nationwide??? worldwide?? what about the mom and pops?? nationwide??? worldwide??

how much you think it cost for ONE radio commercial during rush hour?? how about 1 per day... how about 1 per day, per 50 fukking states worth of radio.... tv ads?? billboards??? magazines???

now i haven't even gotten into about a million other things you need to pay for

so you're ONLY bet is to get with a rich man... whether the label, or an investor.. now what do those rich people want in exchange... THEY WANT THEIR MONEY BACK WITH INTEREST!!!

so in closing.... if you think you gonna convince them to give you all that money, and you don't have a song or 5, that appeals to white people, women, foreigners, and a few people that don't even listen to rap..... you're fukking crazy

and that's why they stay underground.. they can be nice as fukk, but can't make that crossover HIT. they can be nice as fukk, but be 40 and not appealing to the young crowd... they can be nice as fukk, but ugly, and labels can't market that

labels respect your money making ability and that's about it

Lets be real here, a lot of these underground rappers tried to go mainstream and it didnt work. Another thing with yall and 90s rappers is that yall claim they underground but they actually were mainstream its just the direction of Hip Hop changed so much that people wanna rewrite history.

"Ms fat booty" mainstream, "Simon says" mainstream, "Get by" mainstream, etc... sales dont determine if someones mainstream or not. It also depends on how marketable they are. A lot of these are underground because they have no choice, not because they want to.
but how are they trying??? cause i'm sure any of these underground artists could pay someone for a hit... it happens all the time in music

label has a guy who can't find a hit... there's a local hit out there... label buys the song and gives it to their artist and there you go..... ala game.. or em... who never wanted to do ANY of his first singles... but iovine said, either do the silly type shyt, or you ain't dropping... so he wrote silly shyt... he could have easily said no, never dropped SSLP or MMLP and been on cage status

now on the other hand, you have an artist like jadakiss.. he was asked to write for puff.. and said NO.. he don't want to write other people's raps and definitely didn't want to be on no commercial track... mase wrote the verse for mo money, mo problems instead... and puff put him on it and blew him up

so there are actually artists out there, who don't want to sacrifice whatever personal beliefs they have.. in order to make a buck or be famous... they'd rather spit "that real shyt" then be dancing around and making songs that were bought and paid for
