Listen it’s a reason why these truckers get paid shyt and for one you ain’t making no bread if you driving for a company it’s that simple unless you a UPS OTR driver or FedEx otherwise the real money is in being an owner operation with little to no overhead, maximizing your loads on short distance runs within a 250-350 mile radius from your home base so you can be home daily for the most part… Not having a loan on a truck, being mechanically savvy to fix your truck with a problem arises and knowing how to negotiate booking your loads and when to book them. Most times a dispatcher will try to low ball you on loads and they do that because they know it’s drivers out there who will take a lowball offers because they are disparate

but it’s def money to make in the trucking industry

Fuel can easily be over $1000 a week

Yup gas, eating out, fixing car adds up. I didn't drive trucks but I delivered food for a little while and I would spend $25 a day on gas and $15 on eating out and miscellaneous things. If I worked 20 days in a month that $40 turns into a $800 a month. Truckers drive out of town so I'm guess there expenses are alot more probably 1500+ a month. When you throw in taxes that's a 2-4k a month hole so even if you make 7-10k a month you really taking home 4-5k

You just throwing out numbers:martin:
If yo gas bill that high, you pulling in more than 10k that trip
nikka what? $10,000 ONE trip? nikka shut your goofy ass up :mjlol:
A great truck gets around 9 miles per gallon and that's with a light load. Average trucker drives around 2500-3000 miles a week. The price of fuel is around $3.45 today. Do the math

Bruh you can easily cut down on your expenses if your an OTR driver if you got a fridge and portable stoves in your rig to cook your own food.. if you really ballin some drivers got the extended rigs with the showers in them.. Mofos be on the road 3-6 months at a time cakin.. I know one dude who have that set up and he legit work 10 month straight on the road damn near in ever part of the US and sometimes Canada… He takes Jan, Fed and March off because it’s the slowest time for him..

Exactly! You didn’t know, that was my whole point. It’s always about negotiating and where you get your loads from

The problem with pay and turnover issues are because the rates are low when it's not specialized. When you're dealing with specialized shyt like oversized/tanker/whatever you can command a higher rate. Or if you're dealing with an area-specific niche. If you're reefer, dry van, or plain Jane flatbed then you're gonna be running from company to company trying to find better pay but the Punjabis and brehitos will always undercut you. Gotta find your expertise and run with it.

Put it this way...

Just like any type of career field the past 10-15 years. Every type of career field now is paying less, wages are stagnant. Every single profession out here is making less than what they used to
If you are not working for yourself as an Independent Contractor or with your own company, you will always make less

I know plenty Owner Operators, Lease Operators, or dudes who got a small fleet 3 to 4 trucks on the road making $200k a year MINIMUM :whew:

It's the company drivers W-2 workers who are having those weird wages
