The same people who say democracy is the ultimate freedom because we can elect our leaders think socialism & communism is the problem. But if democracy is about collective power, shouldn’t that include ownership too? What’s collective power without collective ownership?

We elect our leaders and then what? They go back to serving private interests and private equity, all that “democracy” goes out the window when elections are over.

Is there an example of this? From any decade?

It hasn’t been done successfully but there are societies that have tried like the Tang Dynasty China before the An Lushan rebellion…which is considered by several prominent historians as the best place for the average human to ever have lived before the sanitation and medical advances of the 20th century.

@Sir Richard Spirit not sure I’m following but America is definitely not on the spectrum is all I’m saying. There are way better examples of socialist principles and societies that have gotten closer than America (not that American has ever striven to be socialist for non-wealthy individuals)

Elect better leaders. Those than are not beholden to private interests but rather respect representation of their constituency.

I don’t disagree but America is too deep in corruption down to its foundation.

What do you do when your foundation is rotted? You destroy the entire thing and build it with better materials. A lot people don’t wanna hear that tho

Agreed, but you must begin somewhere.
We don't live in a democracy (thank God!), we elect representation and even then, the minority has a certain level of built in protection.
