True Detective is cool but what is it about that show that has nikkas overrating it like that. I mean it's just gotten out of hand. Anytime a show lets a group of nerds start playing armchair detective like they did with LOST, all of a sudden you have all these asinine theories popping up and people holding all of these deep conversations and speculating about the overall outcome. Then the shyt turns out not to be anywhere close to what they were yapping about. Despite that, the fact that the show did let them play Spurlock Holmes for a couple of months, now it's the best show on TV and ".....the writing is just sooooooo transcendent....." Man take that shyt elsewhere. I wouldn't put it past the Emmy's to jump on this True Detective bandwagon and start handing awards to McConaowhehwslhoweveryouspellhisname.

McConaughey is winning best actor no doubt, but Breaking Bad is practically a lock to win the best drama category.

Will be interesting. I wouldn't be mad if either won :yeshrug:

Normally I'd say BB deserves it and TD will have it's time, but considering this cast is never coming back :patrice:

What say you, @hexagram23

The "BB" cast is never coming back either, so I doubt that'll come into the equation.

On the one hand "Breaking Bad" is a juggernaut. It's won every award big or small since it went off the air. Emmy, Golden Globe, Saturn, Satellite, Critic's Choice, Peabody, TCA, DGA, WGA, SAG, PGA, etc. to the point that rival shows are :manny: before it's even announced "BB" won:

On the other hand, the Emmys doesn't like to give awards to the obvious choice. So if we think it'll be "BB" or "True Detective", it'll probably be neither. They did the same shyt last year, with Jeff Daniels for Best Actor and Bobby Cannavale for Supporting Actor. People would've guessed literally any other actor in those categories, over those two.

They might split it and give Best Actor to McConaughey, best series to "BB". Or vice-versa, Cranston and "True Detective".

Having said all that, I obviously loved "True Detective", check my post count in that thread....but I wouldn't put season 1 of "True Detective" over season 5 of "BB" in general, and if "Ozymandias" is the nominated ep (which is about a 99.99% chance) then I don't see "TD" winning.

Oh and one more thing I need to clarify.

This isn't "series vs series". They only nominate 1 episode for each category. So for Best Actor McConaughey would probably submit "Form And Void" for his break down at the end of the series. Which on the one hand is a great choice....but the critics won't see his transformation from '95 Rust to Crash to '02 Rust to '12 Rust. So his epic transformation will be lost on the judges....which is obviously a huge strike against his chances of winning.

For Best Drama "True Detective" will most likely go with "Who Goes There" aka the 6 minute tracking shot. They'd be nuts not to.

Cranston for Best Actor will most likely go with "Ozymandias" for obvious reasons....and for Best Drama go with "Ozymandias". They could submit "Ozymandias" across the board really.

If HBO submits "Form and Void" for McConaGAWD, then they might as well kiss that emmy goodbye. Jon Hamm has a better chance of winning for "In Care Of."

I guarantee he'll submit that. He kinda has to, it's the only episode where his acting is :whoo: head and shoulders above the rest of the series.

Therein lies the dilemma. McConaughey's entire performance is hinged on his transformation, which the judges won't see. And IMO Cranston's performance in "Ozymandias" is, at the very least, as good as "Form And Void", if not better.

so you honestly believe that other actors, directors, writers are all in on this lie??

that magazine critics, internet critics, bloggers are all in on this??

and then the fans who watched each and every episode multiple times, are all lying too??

and also the people who read the scripts and joined up... hbo who paid money for this... etc etc... all lying??

:stopitslime:

could it be possible that maybe it was a great show.. and that people actually did understand and like the dialogue.. and that it was a good plot and story to watch play out? that's not possible tho right :comeon:

well first of all, you're kinda wrong

For most series categories, any six episodes that originally aired during the eligibility period must be submitted (programs that were cancelled before airing their sixth episode are thus ineligible). For most individual achievement categories, only one episode is required to be submitted; if an episode is a two-parter, both parts may be included on the submitted DVD.[3]

Ballots to select the nominations are sent to Academy members in June. For most categories, members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees only in their respective categories. All members can however vote for nominations in the best program categories. The final voting to determine the winners is held in August, and is done by judging panels. In June, the Academy solicits volunteers among its active members to serve on these panels. All active members may serve on the program panels; otherwise they are restricted to those categories within their own branch.

so the judges will see some of the series as well, cause they still have to judge the series as well... not to mention, who in the fukk would watch one episode, and that's it.. i know it's what they are SUPPOSED to do.. but do you think these people live in a bubble?? they watch tv, some of these shows, and being a judge, probably watch all this shyt, same as normal people
