And no, I seriously doubt the judges watch 30+ episodes of TV every award season, which they'd have to do. Would you watch "Dexter" for 6 episodes, knowing damn well it has zero chance of winning any category? Would you watch "Downton Abbey", if it didn't appeal to you?

Fred.

How hard is it to watch 30 episodes of the best shows on television?:dwillhuh: Professionals in the industry watch way more than that. Obviously if the show sucks (Dexter) its a different story, but if you think members of the academy aren't watching every ep of the hottest shows out (House of Cards, True Detective etc)?:mjlol:

Yeah what I am saying is the people are going to pick what is popular and getting buzz. Breaking Bad already won, and I could see HBO really push for True Detective to win. You just know this show is getting mad buzz in the industry right now. I bet every actor is like " I wish I had scene like that".:ohlawd:

I don't think Cranston is going to win Best Actor, it is really a competition right now between Spacey and Matthew. With Matthew getting the win. :manny:

I could see Vince Gilligam get best director, but I don't know David Fincher is right there too.:manny:

Not that far of a stretch. The Wire is arguably the most acclaimed tv series of all time and it has no award recognition to show for it :manny:

If that was the case how did "The Wire" never even get nominated? How did "24" win over "The Sopranos"? How did "Lost" win over "Deadwood"? How did James Spader win over James Gandolfini? How did Jeff Daniels win over Bryan Cranston, Jon Hamm, and Damien Lewis?

You're talking about how the Emmys should work, if you follow who wins that's not how it is. Lastly that's 30 episodes of the best shows on TV to you, any given judge might not fukk with "True Detective", or "Breaking Bad" for that matter.

We know what that was about.:mjpls:
McConaughey just won an Oscar, that show has been the talk of the town the last few months.

Eh, people have different opinions. Wire didn't get any pub, cause it was about black people in inner city Baltimore. 24 >>> Sopranos doesn't mean people didn't watch the Sopranos, it means the people who voted have bad taste. People in the industry watch a lot of television, especially popular shows starring movie stars. Not a good look to go into a meeting where everybody's talking about the latest ep of True Detective and you're like :yeshrug:?

I agree. Matt will probably win due to movie star envy, but TD in the drama category, though :patrice:

I mean BB Season 5B holds the Guinness world record for most acclaimed tv season ever

I'm probably the wrong person to talk to about this because I think the Emmys and the Golden Globes are a farce. The only award shows I kinda fukk with is the smaller scale ones like the Writers/Actors/Director's Guild Awards, because those people are actually the kind of people you're talking about. They work in the industry, they aren't just judges. Let's put it like this....if the Emmys ceased to exist tomorrow, nobody would care. If the Writer's Guild shut down, Hollywood would shut down. They're the ones that caused the writer's strikes.

Yeah I get what you're saying, Emmys are basically a popularity contest. The Wire only having 2 emmy nominations pretty much invalidates the whole thing.:wow:
True Detective just happens to be good and popular.
