Lets be honest him being the first to hit that milestone of first black president will cement him as a mythical figure after we are all dead regardless of what he did as president. His speeches will be featured on various montages.

I say his place in history will be dictated on whether Obamacare stays intact within the next 20-30 years since honestly that was his biggest accomplishment.

All biases aside I consider FDR a terrible president and blame him for prolonging the great depression however he created a bunch of social programs that are still here to this day and historians view him with rose colored lenses because of that

so my gut tells me he will be viewed favorably 50 years from now and if Obamacare is still around and strong then he may be considered top 5

Of course

This time period will be seen by historians as an odd time in America's history wherein one of its greatest presidents was immediately followed up with its all-time worst, specifically as a result of huge amounts of citizens convincing themselves that one of the greatest was actually terrible, good is bad, down is up, etc.

The time we're living through now will be viewed as some bizarre phenomenon that saw America basically lose its collective mind and common sense. Remains to be seen if we ever recover.

Domestically Obama is unquestionably the better president:hubie:
Foreign policy goes to Reagan.
Looking back, I really appreciated Reagan's unwillingness to retaliate militarily for terrorism in the Middle East. Reagan called the death of innocent civilians in anti-terror operations "terrorism itself." This is something that weighs heavily with me cause I feel the "war on terrorism" is one of the worst things(for us and the world) to ever come from our government.
In contrast Obama spent every single day in office(literally) engaged in undeclared(unjust) war, bombing brown people... err excuse me, "terrorist":manny:

I hope you're joking about Reagan's foreign policy. The Iran-Contra affair takes him out of the running for top 40 in terms of foreign policy.
shyt, Martin van Buren outdid him by not arming any state or funding terrorist groups :mjlol:

:gucci: How did he prolong the Great Depression? It was already three years deep by the time he was President, and the New Deal was enacted the same year he was inaugurated :francis:
He also repealed Prohibition laws, allowing for a massive expansion of the alcohol industry, dropping related crime and increasing revenue all over the US.

Not to mention guiding the nation through WWII, the largest and deadliest war in human history. No big deal. :mjlol:

I was comparing him to Obama... Iran-Contra :hula:Perpetual war.
Its not as clear cut as you may think, but given the American palette for war, I can see Obama's nonstop bombing being more acceptable.:ehh:

FDR's policies prolonged Depression by 7 years, UCLA economists calculate

don't be so quick to mock someone else when you aren't aware of all the facts

If Obamacare is reformed and moves us toward a way better healthcare system, the legacy will look great decades from now.

Being the 1st black POTUS is a huge achievement in itself and he was elected twice with a great campaign network.

The biggest weakness was his role as party leader with the Dems being decimated at all levels and his picks to run the DNC sucked.

Read the article
These libertarians jigs think he should have "let the market sort it out" instead of pushing labour policy, allowing union strength, and giving more rope to corporations to develop productivity. The biggest complaint is based around the salaries being "too high" than the "market would have allowed." :mjlol:
