What’s crazy is the reason why they sell the F-35 to other countries is how much anti-espionage tech is built in. It’s extremely difficult to reverse engineer if one happens to get shot down. The software needs to constantly be updated and if it’s not then a lot of the software gets useless. It’s like a subscription.
