F22 is good in its limited role. Its a air superiority fighter. F35 is great in its role. It can control other stuff and can hit ground targets. You are not sending a F22 after ground targets. You are sending it after enemy aircraft and that's it. F22 will kill you before you even know its there. Dog fighting is a thing of the past, most engagements are going to be BVR. Both are great for what they do, but Fat Amy isn't hanging with the 22.

Yeah, the thing us the F-35 is meant for modern warfare. It can do nearly everything better than the F-22 and the one thing the F-22 is better at it it’s only situationally better and slightly at that because they’re both nearly equally matched BVR and pilot skill/luck can matter on who gets the read.
F-35 really can do just about everything the Raptor can, but the same is not true vice-versa. You can send an F-35 to hit a target regardless if there’s enemy aircraft there and it’ll make it through that area taking down enemy aircraft on the way to hitting its target. Then it can patrol the area and mark other targets for other jets and even take out other fighter jets with other planes’ weapons. Once a Raptor runs out of missiles it’s useless and just wasting fuel. Plus the F-35’s fuel range is a big positive vs the Raptor, especially if the threat will be fought over water.
F-35 is just way more efficient and suitable for modern military challenges and that makes it far superior overall as it stands. If wars were fought in the old school manner against Russia then there’d be more of a place for the Raptor and it did serve it’s purpose for some time. Even then a squadron of F-35’s might straight up clear a squadron full of Raptors during an a2a skirmish, depending on pilot skills.

F-22 is still more advanced than anything any other country has to offer, but i have no problem furthering our military advantage.
But they need to tax the wealthy if they continue to up military spending. Its the one of the biggest money drain economically and a big reason why no matter how many doge cuts they make the economy is alway worse under republican administrations than democratic ones. Allowing the 1% to hoard all the money is not sustainable not matter what alternatives you try.
