Brazil is richer than you think. It's economy is around $2.3 trillion USD and it's the 8th largest economy in the world.

This really sucks because you will be way more affected by this is you live in a poorer state. The department of education manages a lot of functions that will now be the responsibility of the State to cover and fund.

Guess which states provide a disproportionate amount funding to the federal government to redistribute those funds to the poor states? Yep mainly the blue states. Dummies in Mississippi wanna cut off federal funding to education and social welfare programs? Fine they are literally tying their own neuces. With access to the internet, there is no excuse for our people to be so ignorant about these issues. All of these responses on this thread by people who act like it is already done. He needs Congress to approve this. He does not have the Republican numbers to do it. He needs Democratic votes to accomplish this. Unfortunately for you true blue believers, the Democrats have been ready and willing to hand him the votes he needs for previoius issues. So, lets see if they do their job and stop him, or come up with another excuse for why they had to vote for his policy.

I hope the former happens, but I will not be surpised if the latter happens. I am no longer surpised by the Democratic Leadership's willingness to lose.

Functionally he can fire a whole ton of people and just let the department limp along. While the courts work stuff out, things fall apart everywhere.
