I'm having a hard time understanding the type of voter Pelosi is scared to death of upsetting. Are there people really out there who would be more inclined to vote for Trump if the Dems actually do their job and impeach? These people don't exist.

Doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Those people are beyond the point of being converted over. If Trump is impeached, they’ll say the media/left had a vendetta against him. If Trump loses the election, they’ll say it was rigged. You’re going to lose either way with them.

Millions of blacks were helped by the new deal?

Hundreds of thousands, then? :ld:

But yes blacks, many, were helped by the New Deal. That's how black people started to vote Democrat. Northern blacks probably got a better opportunities than Southern blacks though.
If you don't just count the number employed but their families as well, then yes, millions benefited:

New Deal's Impact on African Americans

Benefits

African Americans benefited from many of Roosevelt's New Deal programs such as the following:

  • Works Progress Administration employed over 300,000 African Americans
  • Civilian Conservation Corp employed over 300,000 African Americans
  • Public Works Administration set quotas for the number of African Americans that had to be hired for all construction jobs
Roosevelt's New Deal education programs also taught more than 1 million African Americans to read and write. More skilled and educated African Americans were hired as engineers, librarians, lawyers, and architects under New Deal programs.

Advancements like these shifted African American voting habits towards the Democratic Party and away from the Republicans for the first time since Lincoln.

There were tons of issues and discrimination in many New Deal programs too, but for the most part that was in places and ways were all that discrimination already existed. But to say that the New Deal was for "only White people" is just falsifying history.

Like @For Da Bag said, the New Deal straight brought Black folk to the Democratic Party in numbers for the first time after 100+ years of that party being the racist party. How do you explain that if they were cut out?

Watching these interviews with Trump's cabinet and thinking....anyone with little enough integrity to be still protecting the president at this point, how do you wipe that shyt off your conscience? Won't you be stuck with that for life?

I dont know if they have a conscience. Power and money is their conscience.

And are any of you calling your reps? because you should be. It takes just a few moments. Let them know you want impeachment and you will hold your vote without them taking action. Not enough people are doing that, that's why Nancy isnt feeling enough heat. Every Dem in the house should be for impeachment.

How the New Deal Went Down

African Americans and the New Deal: A Look Back in History - Roosevelt Institute
I swear you trolling with that - that article is mostly about all the positive shyt the Roosevelt administration did for Black folk and how many were helped by the New Deal. :gucci:

The article is literally my exact stance - the New Deal had a lot of racism embedded in how it played out but that racism was all the pre-existing shyt that was there for Black folk across all of society no matter what Black people did. There was no anti-racist utopia in the 1930s. But a lot of Black folk were helped out by the programs.

It is also important to recognize that this hope was not merely based on empty promises of change, but on the actual words and deeds spoken by Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and taken by the federal government at a time when racism was deeply seared into the American psyche. With respect to the critical issue of employment, for example, we know that by 1935, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was employing approximately 350,000 African Americans annually, about 15% of its total workforce. In the Civilian Conservation Corps, the percentage of blacks who took part climbed from roughly 3% at its outset in 1933 to over 11% by the close of 1938 with a total of more than 350,000 having been enrolled in the CCC by the time the program was shut down in 1942. The National Youth Administration, under the direction of Aubrey Williams, hired more black administrators than any other New deal agency; employed African American supervisors to oversee the work the agency was doing on behalf of black youth for each state in the south; and assisted more than 300,000 Africa American youth during the Depression. In 1934, the Public Works Administration (PWA) inserted a clause in all government construction contracts that established a quota for the hiring of black laborers based on the 1930 labor census and as a consequence a significant number of blacks received skilled employment on PWA projects.

African Americans also benefited from the Federal Music Project, which funded performances of black composers; from the Federal Theatre and Writing Projects, which hired and featured the work of hundreds of African American artists; and from the New Deal’s educational programs, which taught over 1 million illiterate blacks to read and write and which increased the number of African American children attending primary school.

As the leader of a political party that was heavily represented in Congress by racist Southern Democrats who supported segregation and even opposed the adoption of a federal anti-lynching law as an infringement of state’s rights, FDR had to choose his battles carefully and at times appears timorous in the face of racial injustice-especially when viewed from today. But this is the President who appointed a far greater number of blacks to positions of responsibility within his government than any of his predecessors, so much so in fact that this group became known as the “Black Cabinet” or “Black Brain Trust” in the press. FDR was also the first president to appoint an African American as a federal judge; to promote a black man to the rank of Brigadier General in the Army; and, incredible as it might seem, the first president to publicly call lynching murder — “a vile form of collective murder”-which W.E B. Dubois applauded as something that sadly was long overdue. Overall FDR’s administration tripled the number of Africa Americans working for the federal government, including thousands of black engineers, architects, lawyers, librarians, office managers, and other professionals, and under his leadership, and with the strong support of Eleanor Roosevelt, the Democrats included the first specific African American plank in the party platform at the 1936 convention.

i'm not trolling. i'm saying that all things considered, many people think the new deal still left black people out to dry

NOT SAYING THERE WAS NOT BENEFITS...but whatever was gained was a fraction of what other grouops truly had access to.

This would be the uber wealthy Dem financial supporters who claim impeachment will cause too much "instability" in the markets.

Also big time donors like Haim Saban who think the Dem party is moving too far to the left

I bet we find out at some point that the reason the guy blew the whistle was that trump was talking to these mfers through unofficial lines of communication.

remember that jared and co. wanted to avoid going thru normal channels when talking to the russians because he knew US intel folks would be monitoring any communications originating from US govt sites.

trump was talking to these ppl assuming there would be no record on our end. the US IC then found out thru intercepts of ukrainian communications or through human assets within the gov't that trump made these demands/promises.

Mueller said the election interference was still ongoing. People assumed it was Putin(which it may be) but it’s probably Manafort’s Ukraine buddies.

It also puts Trumps balls in a vice with other nations. The Ukraine could have used this information to blackmail him if they wished as well.
