More like trillions. The plant I work at cost 2 billion to build in 05-06, and it was considered state of the art then. I could only imagine how much it would cost now; and our union president done drank the Kool Aid nowUnless they're paying Americans sub 5$ per hour and working super long hours physical labour none of that is happening.
That isn't even counting the infrastructure as Lucky says above. It would costs billions.
Exactly, because:I don't see how bringing back a bunch of $5/hr jobs would be a net positive for the black community
He is not trying to re-industrialize America via tariffs. He is flat out lying to the people because we’re stupid collectively
Manufacturing jobs are not coming back to America and if they did then the cost of the product would be so high that manufacturers would have to leave America in order to stay in business.
Do y'all know how long it would take to build the infrastructure needed to re-establish the manufacturing industry in the US? Unless the USG is gonna subsidize or pay companies back for this, they’re not doing that shyt
/threadRight-wing populism is rooted in false nostalgia. Things used to be better, even if they weren't.
We can't have it both ways. If a TV set costs $1500 instead of $500, there will be fewer TVs sold. Jobs that are supported by those sales will be lost, leaving even less money to buy those overpriced TVs.
The entire US economy relies on consumer spending. Home appliances, plane tickets, electronics, clothing etc, are all relatively much cheaper while rent/mortgages, health insurance, childcare are all relatively astronomically more expensive.
Also, manufacturing jobs paid well because they were highly unionized, and post WW2 almost the entire developed world was in ruin and the US had no competition for manufactured goods. And not only did they pay well, they could be obtained with a HS diploma, and due to the high demand, job openings were much more plentiful. The world just simply does not work like this anymore though. The competition for manufactured goods is much more fierce, and the US cost of living cannot compete with other countries without major reforms and long term planning.
It is basic math, you cannot bring back manufacturing jobs, while paying American salaries, when we have at least three generations that are accustomed to cheap stuff made in Asia. On top of that, cost of living is high, wages are stagnant, there are no unions to guarantee job security, and we are an an age were automation and AI can help companies save money (and they will always choose this option first).
We are falling behind rapidly while China has caught up and in some cases surpassed us.
The muthafukkas that rep all this acronym bullshyt are salivating at the chance. They can't read the room.Every black man don’t wanna work in a factory
And that shyt ain’t gonna happen overnight even if it’s some manufacturing jobs created
AI is not going to save anyone but the wealthyIf you haven’t thought about how to use AI to make money yet, you are very behind the times.
Work as you know it will disappear in the next 10 years and the window is quickly closing for you to position yourself to not be among the suffering poor.
We have transitioned from the Information Age into the Automation Age and next will be the Non Human Intelligence Age.
If you are slow to act, you are dooming yourself and the future of your family. I can’t give y’all all the game, but that’s a nugget you can do something with if you can think outside the box of a 9 to 5 job.
What math courses does economics require? As an engineer, I'm curious as to how they handle their mathematic formulas when things aren't idealI have an economics degree.
I'm not saying Trumps plan will work I'm saying what IF it does work
Can you define "it does work"?I'm not saying Trumps plan will work I'm saying what IF it does work
