Again these are taxes from worldwide sales ... Why would Apple bring European/Asian profits to be taxed in America ?

The Google Dutch sandwich was a shrewd move... Think Apple did it too.

These are EU matters not the U.S.

Unpopular opinion : But isn't it better that now America has bombers they can fly from Nevada or Maryland that can get into any airspace including Russian undetected

I dapped your post because I agree with what you said but it is NOT true that the Russian cannot detect american stealth fighters. Hell even the Ukrainians developed a radar completely independent of the Russians that can detect ANY stealth fighter. Im not saying that the F-35 isnt an impressive piece of tech but its a "stealth" aircraft, not "invisible"

I was talking about the B-2. But yeah nothing is 100% stealth now a days but if you're not looking very closely for it it might as well be.

Unpopular opinion : When it comes to the military, costs of a specific program shouldn't be an issue. The point is to have the most effective equipment. The B-2 Bomber I think at last estimate costs 1.2 Billion per unit? But isn't it better that now America has bombers they can fly from Nevada or Maryland that can get into any airspace including Russian undetected, drop thousands and thousands of pounds of bombs fairly accurately, and return back all in a days work? Obviously the Russians don't want NATO allied countries to get the F-35, it totally outclasses their regular fighters. Sure Russia has some elite fighters that are better than the f-35, but the vast majority of their fighters are not ready for the F-35 and were designed to fight the f-16, which is going to be left behind.

I listened to a BBC radio programme and quite a few ex military officers including Americans were scornful of the F-35. Apparently it tries to be multiple things (bomber, fighter jet) and doesn't do either of them well. The whole thing reeked of :flabbynsick:

well i think we can agree that when it comes to the government spending taxpayers' money, this happens a lot :comeon:

of course getting work done on my engine is a simple comparison
no it happens with everyone's money. from tax payer or regular citizen or business. doesn't matter. thats how contractors work.

you ask them for a complete something. they say ok. they come up with a general budget. then as the thing is being built. they run into issues they did not forsee OR they realize they need to do more of something, that will cost more money. so they send you an upgraded version of the original contract for you to sign off on the extras that really arent extras. they are necessary to complete the project you originally asked for.

basically most projects like this can't have an exact money count up front because something can come up.

again its easy to tell someone how much it costs to build something old that was already created a 100 times over. you already know all the parts needed and how much it costs to source the parts/materials as well as the man hours. but to create something new. it will almost always run into more $$$ then you first thought.

you still aint hearing me.

you ask me to create a jet that hasnt been made before. all i can give you is an assumed estimate. if you say X is all I'm paying and i the contractor find out later during creation that its going to go over that but you wont budge. i will end up cutting corners. do you really want me to cut corners on a fighter jet? Think about that for a moment.

You remember what happened when NASA started cutting corners on Space Shuttles? BOOM

Now granted with all that said. yes their are times where you need to put contractors in check when it comes to over charging. but you have to do it right and know that industry backwards and forwards and know yourself how much it would costs to create this new product(jet).

another thing you have to worry about. their have been times where we've outsourced certain pieces of these projects to foreigners or other countries. we always talking this bring jobs back to america talk. well americans have to make a certain wage based on the law. americans have benefits packages etc. so that alone will boost the cost.

that MADE IN AMERICA is more expensive than MADE IN CHINA. Thats just the reality of it. Yes MADE in AMERICA = HIGH QUALITY. made in china = Low quality usually. do you want a low quality fighter jet flying around to protect american skies and american allies?

How are you off by 33%, especially when the cost is for two planes and a hanger? You know the parts, and you know what needs to be placed in the hanger. How are you off that much money for something like that?

Is this extra money just the money towards extra development going forward?
