The thing i hate the most about this nikka is how funny he is. Its dangerous because it disarms his very pernicious intent

It's by design, probably why he was chosen. By being funny, ridiculous, obscene, he emotionally connects with low vibration individuals, which make up the majority of voters. By making a parody about the presidential position he's basically making a show out of it, in which all his followers can participate because there's no longer any difference between the president and the random dude on his fifth beer rambling at the bar. And if you start responding in a serious way YOU look ridiculous for taking him seriously. Kind of like the whole thing about playing chess with a pigeon. Pigeon is always gonna win because he doesn't know nor care about the rules.

Trump tells UN that climate change is 'greatest con job' globally

By Valerie Volcovici

Sept 23 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump dismissed climate change as “the greatest con job” in the world during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, doubling down on his skepticism of global environmental initiatives and multilateral institutions.

Scientists say climate change is real, mostly caused by humans, and getting worse. They point to rising temperatures, stronger storms, and melting ice as clear signs. Groups like the UN have warned that waiting too long to act could cause serious damage to the planet and people.

Trump spoke for several minutes out of his near-hour speech on climate change during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, criticizing the European Union for reducing its carbon footprint, which he claimed has taken a toll on its economy, and warning countries that have invested heavily in renewable energy that their economies will suffer.

"It's the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world, in my opinion," Trump told the General Assembly. "All of these predictions made by the United Nations and many others, often for bad reasons, were wrong."

He added: "They were made by stupid people that have cost their country's fortunes and given those same countries no chance for success."

Once Trump took office in January, the U.S. submitted its withdrawal for a second time from the Paris Agreement, a 2015 pact agreed by 195 countries to strive to keep global temperatures from rising beyond 1.5 C, leaving it in the company of only Yemen, Iran and Libya.

His administration is carrying out an "energy dominance" agenda that focuses on producing and exporting oil, gas and coal, as well as nuclear, while sidelining renewable energy, which has become cost-competitive.

"We have the most oil of any nation anywhere, oil and gas in the world, and if you add coal, we have the most of any nation in the world," he said.

His remarks come a day before UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hosts a climate summit at the UN that will focus on countries' new climate action plans.

Guterres has tried to keep the world focused on continuing a global transition away from fossil fuels towards clean energy.

“Just follow the money,” Guterres said in June, adding that $2 trillion flowed into clean energy last year, $800 billion more than fossil fuels and up almost 70% in a decade.

Quite the contrary on climate change. With the exception of japan who has a sunken cost in hybrid vehicles that they wont give up on most countries take it seriously.

China started viewing it as an existential crisis two years ago after several of the rivers that power hydroplants dried up. They now produce the most green energy on earth, because They almost gad revolts because residents couldnt use AC in 95 degree weather.

India went through the sane issue that year with 110 degree temperatures, so modi us actively trying to electrify car and transit fleets.

Da Silva was a strong opponent of the deforestation and embrace of fossil fuel extraction by the recently hailed bolsanaro.

Even the EU is making an effort. Germany has plans to shyt down most of rheir kegacy steel mills for superveffecint ones and they have embraced solar. France is doubling down on nuclear. And they would have succeeded if it wasnt for those meddling Russians and Burkinabe :pachaha:
Those actions are trifles used for media impact and greenwashing ventures. How close will they get us to the goal? It's like starting to walk (not even jog or drive) to catch a plane you're already late for. You have to take into account the scientific reality of climate evolution, as well as the effective commitment to the objectives set for the countries, to be able to evaluate correctly the significance of these measures.

Despite their announcements, none of these countries are on track with the objectives set by the Paris agreement which are about to crumble. It's once again too little too late: https://climateactiontracker.org/countries/

Just a few days ago, the UN chief called out the international community on their insufficient efforts: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/un-chief-warns-15c-warming-goal-at-risk-of-collapsing/ar-AA1MVeUn

As an example, before the government collapsed again, in June, the french National Assembly adopted a moratorium on renewable energy. You could argue that the plan is to focus on nuclear energy.
Except that building the needed new nuclear infrastructure will take at the very least a decade. Time that climate change doesn't offer.

So no, in my opinion, they don't take it seriously enough on several levels (preventing the worst of the crisis as well as preparing for enduring it), and that's because they structurally can't. The necessary actions to tackle the issue would require both large-scale international cooperation and a consequent challenge to the capitalist structures that underpin all these states. They can't do neither.
