Farmers are suffering due to a side effect of the SE Asian/Europeans engaging in their own trade deals. Valid point.

However, the TPP has so many bad things in it. There's a reason every progressive organization, every labor union in this country, rejected it.

TPP and Big Pharma summarized in this piece co-authored by Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz:

"The TPP would manage trade in pharmaceuticals through a variety of seemingly arcane rule changes on issues such as ‘patent linkage', ‘data exclusivity', and ‘biologics.' The upshot is that pharmaceutical companies would effectively be allowed to extend — sometimes almost indefinitely — their monopolies on patented medicines, keep cheaper generics off the market, and block ‘biosimilar' competitors from introducing new medicines for years."

And all of these flaws here: 8 Terrible Things About the Trans-Pacific Partnership

How is this a bad thing?

The United States dominates the TPP countries in output and R&D

These big corporations and banks lost the privilege to be trusted. Until they gain that I don't like back door meetings with them invovled while no one else knows whats going on.
This had nothing to do with banks and these corporations were railed by idiots who have no understanding of macroeconomics.

They should have never had a say in the first place.

Laymen opinions are not universally valid

you say this until you get laid off.
I don't work in a field TPP would effect, if I did it wouldn't change anything. TPP is for making multinational corporations rich and limiting competition, not helping Americans or the little guy.

That said I"m glad you've stop pretending your are a corporatist shill though.

In the sense that this was some corrupt nefarious play, is what I mean.

I should have clarified.

And on top of that, the fear mongering against ANY deal making is harming this country. Y'all gotta step out of that bullshyt.

This is clear evidence of the harm that populist thinking does.

I'm trying to get you to look at this both ways reasonably.

While ignorance from the populist who felt disenfranchised put their trust in a man who may destroy us because of his decision to pull from TPP, based on the image of corporations and banks and their cozy relationship with Washington, can you really blame them for hating TPP?

Everything about TPP was hard to defend with no much lack of transparency and corporate interest.

How much concession do you want from me?

I can clearly read and I'm clearly specifically responding to you.

I don't have to ultimately agree with you 100%.

I completely understand you. Totally. Fully. Without reservation.

HOWEVER, when it comes time to make certain decisions, some people should not be in the room and thats where I leave it.

And no, not "everything" was hard to defend. Much of it was very easy to defend...yall were just swept up in that Bernie/Trump hype where you "break everything" and some magic revolution takes place and a utopia is formed.

Thats not the state of affairs, now is it?

100% of Americans work in fields that affect TPP.

Did you read the article?

Dudes could see entire aisles of groceries sky rocket in price and not even realize its tied to global trade and you're out here talking about these vague "anti-corporation" narratives.

Look, no matter how many times I say I'm in favor of responsible and accountable big business with regulation, you all STILL will not bend or fold to any degree about the need for these same entities to not only be in America but to represent American interests.

This is globalism pure and simple...what happens over there, affects whats on your dinner plate.

TPP literally creates a international cartel, and you are trying to claim this is good for anyone but the cartel members.

The funny part is you claim rural americans are hurt by Trump pulling out, when its literally the exact opposite. The TPP specifically hurts farmers at the expense of companies like Monsanto.

Even the liberal rag, the nation, points this out
The Trans-Pacific Partnership Will Hurt Farmers and Make Seed Companies Richer
