:wow: I see this thread has exposed Colis general ignorance about Mortgages and foreclosures...a few points

Its a legal action which means a judicial officer or judge has to review it..But feel free to believe some district judge approved kicking out a grandma for 30 cents anyway cos it gets yall in your feelings

Second,it takes YEARS to process from filing to when the sheriff shows up..and every state has built in failsafes that will stop the process with a payment or new agreement

:comeon: Third she had a REVERSE mortgage which is where the bank has already paid HER for her home..........THE HOUSE WAS THEIRS NOW

but she could live in it until she dies all she had to do was pay the insurance..and it sounds like she didnt pay it for 4 or more years.

It does take some time, but Florida's foreclosure law is quite favorable to banks so the fact that a judicial officer has to review it means absolutely nothing. More often than not, it's a foreclosure magistrate who just wants the case to go away, given how inundated Florida has been with foreclosures the past several years.

If you can't hire a decent lawyer (and if you can't pay your mortgage, then you almost certainly cannot), it will probably not take "years."

:jbhmm:

Florida has the biggest inventory of backlogged foreclosures of any state. Compounding this issue, the state has one of the longest foreclosure timelines in the country, with the average foreclosure taking 893 days. To speed up the foreclosure process and clear out some of the backlog, Florida’s governor Rick Scott signed a new foreclosure bill into law on June 7, 2013.

This whole story is fishy..i suspect the $423.30 was the part of the insurance bill that was over 120 days delinquent and she didnt even pay that off completely triggering the foreclosure process...

:rudy:but this BS story is being sold like her home was stolen from her because of 30 cents.
