For starters how the hell is Turkey a buffer between Russia and I'm guessing.... Europe? Why couldn't Russia just go through Ukraine/Romania

Secondly w/Turkey giving ISIS safe harbor & support NATO and its member states sure are getting a lot out of that deal

Turkey has been playing its part in nato for decades. Nato is an anti Russian organization not anti iSIS. Nato isnt even fighting ISIS.

Turkey has been used by nato cacs for decades to potentially grind down russian troops without losing cac troops or civilians. I can see why turks want to actually pull their nato card on occasion

Turkey is in Nato due to it being a jump off point if the cold war went down. Now that they are actively fukking with Russia I don't see them being in Nato much longer.

I dont think everyone realizes just how crucial Turkey is to the USAs covert-ops/long term interests.

They are mostly agents of United States policy; and you have to be naive to think that the most powerful country in the world with their hands in 95% of countries policies are out of the loop on what Turkey are doing right now in the Middle East. Sure we may disagree on the ISIS blowback; but in the long run Turkey have been good allies of the US.

The next key phase of the great game will be determined in Central Asia (the old soviet blocs - still on the table) & Turkey have a lot of pull in the region. There are significant populations of "Turkic"people in the Stans and also China (see Uighar "uprising"). Extremely well spread out in various potential resource rich countries in sizable groups.The USA covert ops think long term and analyze all potential scenarios. Think about these geopolitical issues in decades and half century and not short term and you can slowly see how our system functions. Proxy battles and covert uprisings and coups are the best way for the United States to protect their long term interests and they seem to be gearing for testing the waters in Central Asia with Turkey as our agents (Plausible Deniability ftw ).

Demonic as it may be; US long term foreign policy has no morality; jut means to ends. We hunt resources and dont care if we support dictators/death squads/extremists

What type of alliance would that be? The whole point of groups is to have power in numbers...You are only as strong as your weakest link...

If NATO disowns Turkey, then NATO will not trust NATO, because what happens when one of them goofs off again...
