I was never a madden or live guy but watching folks play 04 with Vick made me cop 05 with mcnabb on the cover.
Till this day that’s the only madden I’ve ever copped.

Modern day gaming GOTY is mostly for prestige single player experiences. No way in hell would a Madden even an exceptional one win GOTY today.
Japanese games win GOTY all the time so there aren't any biases there. The only real requirements are you need to break into the mainstream and have a level of prestige.

Madden 04 was fire though. Just ban Vick. And this is coming from someone who hates sports games. I was playing 04 up until the beginning of thr previous gen. And Kotor is my goat game.
That year was stacked. Almost all of the nominees that year are classics....now. Madden 04 was not only a great game, it was mainstream. Of course it won that year.

that Madden still might be the GOAT Madden..historic teams, you could create your own plays, playmaker, franchise mode was hella immersive & you could move the team anywhere
