Barbie is doing numbers

They just gotta make the movies feel like phenomenons
I don't think some people really grasp how big of a deal it is that the two biggest movies of the summer weren't superhero action films. One was a 3 hr court drama basically and the other was a comedy. Neither were a sequel to anything meanwhile Indiana Jones and mission impossible are out and failing to beat barbie and Oppenheimer at the box office.

It sends a message that people want CINEMA. They want an artist sharing their world view instead of just sitting in a theme park ride of explosions and quip laden overly irreverent dialogue and fourth wall breaks. People want something they haven't already seen multiple versions of.

With inflation 100 million isn’t as hard to do as it was 20 years ago

There are stars who can guarantee a movie will make Atleast 100 million
I also said budget recoup. That same inflation affects budget. 100M is just a rough figure to give a shot at the studio making a profit, or in some cases, breaking even. The actors with this distinction are elders now and sometimes struggle also with an established franchise.

Name 3 bankable stars under age 50.

Eh...Barbie and Oppenheimer aren't shockers though. One is based on the most popular doll in the world and the other is from an acclaimed director who's more bankable than actual actors.

MI7 will finish above 600M and nobody asked for an 80 year old Indiana Jones.

Creed 3 was below average and made 275 million. Explain that
On top of not being below average, the Creed franchise is a branch-off of one of the most iconic franchises in film history.

When 275 million is being done regularly on 50 million dollar budgets for non-established universes, then we can say this.
