They have done some of those things too. I was talking about husbands.
Patriarchy has good and bad elements. You cant seperate them if you are going to espouse it.
i mean... even in current patriarchy, the judicial system and societal norms provide ALOT of protections for women...
if a woman even makes an allegation of domestic violence against her husband...
the police and society take it waaaay more seriously than if the husband has an allegation against his wife
the penalties are higher...
and the amount of support organizations for the women are much greater....
i assume the discrepancy in violence statistics isn't due to society/judicial system allowing it...
has more to do with the biology of men (ie. stronger, more aggressive, testosterone etc.)
so the "patriarchy" as it exists isn't necessarily promoting violence against women...
I'd argue that it actually looks down on it. ie. Abuse against women is punished harsher and is frowned upon across the board even in prison culture
What is your definition settling? Most men take the best they can get...looks wise at least.
An attractive women that doesnt have money is going to have more access to high income settings. The term trophy wife isnt reserved for celebs.
Anecdotally for me its a mix. With some the wife is making bank with others she doesnt even work. I just know I have never heard men, even those with money, dwell on how much a woman makes like that.
this is the crux of the issue...
men and women are valued based on different metrics...
the issue comes along when women label their value based on their opinion of what they're worth...
then blame the dating pool for not supplying them with enough qualifying men...
when in reality, the dating pool is fine... and the women just dont have the values that the men they want...want...
the women cant accept that reality... so then the narrative that our men arent matching up is pushed....
then we pull up actual statistics that completely contradict the narrative...
and have pages long fights about the issue
