When is the last time you heard a trap or drill rapper that could be nominated, or win, best artist/album? The only one that I can think of recently is Pop Smoke. No one else's music is hitting like that nor are they interesting enough.

The thing here is everything depends on what your qualifiers for good music are. And this is the core issue with the Grammys, because we can tell they have the typical white hipster's taste pallete with some industry politics mixed in.

An album like Shiesty Season had way more cultural dominance last year, than Tyler's album. I'm pretty sure Wockesha got more plays than the Keem and Kendrick song that won best rap song too.

At the end of the day, this shyt is a show, and they need to make it a popularity contest for views. Imagine the views if they truly respected hip hop and we saw lyrical dudes like Rome Streetz and Ransom get recognized for the run they're currently on and get nominated, and likewise with trap or drill artists like Pooh Shiesty and Kay Flock who both had a huge buzz last year.

I don't disagree with you but we already know how the Grammys work. How they operate isn't going to change because:
1. It's a popularity contest like you said
2. It's a mainly old white award show.

No matter how much cultural dominance he had, Pooh Shiesty isn't getting any looks at the Grammys because they don't care about what goes on in our culture. Keem and Kendrick won best Rap Performance, Kanye and Jay won best Rap Song. That Rap Song category was terrible :snoop: "Wockesha" should have won that.

:heh: at you thinking they'll recognize Ransom and Rome Streetz. I barely know who either are.

Wait for the BET Awards breh.

I never cared much for Odd Future, but watching Earl and Tyler mature and take their music more seriously has been very rewarding.

I love how you can tell that Tyler writes on piano. Dude LOVES him some augmented seventh chords.

Nas is the most creative writer in rap history, the only part Tyler can be more ‘creative’ is in his production.
I would argue Slick Rick is the most creative but Nas is the arguably the best concise wordsmith without being rappity rap lyrical miracle spiritual nonsense.

Lmao I'm not saying they would recognize Ransom and Rome Streetz, I was making a point how the Grammys ignores the most skilled rappers (dudes like Rome Streetz and Ranson) and the most culturally relevant rappers (dudes like Pooh Shiesty), and instead makes it a popularity contest with all the rappers white people know about.

Either way, we on the same page here.

:mjlol: Tyler wouldn’t even say that. Post cherry bomb is like a whole different artist.
Because he's on a bunch of other shyt. b*stard/Goblin Tyler would clown 2022 Tyler. Beats and rhymes, rapping, Goblin. If you like all that Pharrellish shyt, more power to you.

Tyler himself said he didn’t even like OF tapes, so I’m pretty sure he doesn’t think those albums match up to the shyt that got him as one of the top rappers in the game.
