On not being relevant in 2013:

"First off, what is relevant? What does that even mean? I just had to take a little break to get my little acting thing to pop off but how can I not be relevant if I haven't even put out an album to be judged on? I have people hitting me up all day on twitter telling me they copping my album the day it comes out, nahmean? I have like a million followers, you feel me? All I'm saying is, let the album drop first and then talk - I guarantee it's going to be a whole 'nother conversation."

A month after the album drops and sells 1400 copies:

On Squashing beef with rival:
"I ended up bumping into duke courtesy of my homeboy Corey B. Corey B put alot of nikkas on in the game and is a reputable individual out here. Corey hit my line and said he was at Panera bread wit bruh , and I needed to come thru so we can settle this shyt like men. Out of all the shyt Corey did for me I would never say no--that would be like spitting in his face. I walk in and I instantly knew it was all love. We chop it up for about 45 minutes and the rest is history. It was all a big misunderstanding and we good now. We actually gon do a best of both hoods duet album together yall should get that 4th quarter right around Christmas time."

Rapper: Yea, I'm like...when I go in the studio man - it's just off top. It's all in my head, I don't write nothin' down, ya mean?

Interviewer: That's what it is, man. So usually when we get to this part of the show I ask the guest to drop a little freestyle for the fans - maybe like 16 bars or so...

Rapper: *pauses for 15 seconds* Haaa man...it ain't...I mean...I ain't...lissssten *laughs* Mane, iight - I got a little something for ya'll. *beat drops* I'm a...money getta...wig splitta...young boss...fukkin' hoes...your bytch on my dikk 'cause I'm dropping bars...*throws up hands and laughs uncontrollably* Mane, ya'll trying to put me on the spot man. That's tight though - keeping me on my toes and shyt, ya mean? It's whatever, though. I just gave ya'll a little preview. A little throwaway rhyme or whatever. I don't just drop gems for free, you feel me? Anyway...my album man...it's crazy. You gotta cop that shyt.

Spooky C Observes MLK Day:
Sway: So spook , what are your thoughts on MLK and his impact on society as we remember him on his day?

Spooky C: Its very important for the youth to understand what this man meant to us namsayin? This man put his life on the line and paid the ultimate price so we could be free yadig? If it wasn't for MLK wouldn't be no multi-platinum Spooky C , wouldn't be no Jay z , and hell , prolly wouldn't even be hip hop. We as people need to get more in tune with our history.

Sway: That's whatsup spook. So whats next for you? I saw you lookin mean in that Aberombie ad. Anymore projects coming up?

Spooky C: Yeah mane the Abercrombie modeling shyt is everywhere right now but ima rapper at heart. I think ima release "All white everything part 2" this summer ,and hit yall with the 3rd album "In White We Trust" by fall. :myman:

Jigga with the Roley and the Vest
Interviewer- So what made you want to be come a rapper?

Rapper- First off im not a rapper. Im a (*pick one of street nikka/hustler/real nikka/preacher/motivator/TD Jakes of the streets/boss/business man/poet/author. I dont really fukk with the rap shyt. I was in the streets since I can remember. I never wanted to fukk with the rap shyt like that. I always had money so I hung around alot of these rap nikkaz while I was hustling getting money. I'm cool with "insert famous local producer" because I ran into him when we were both copping Ferraris and we been cool since. I'd come through to the studio to chill with him and id be there listening to these rappers like :dahell: ? These nikkaz rapping bout my life. shyt I been through. So it was only natural i get behind the mic and tell the people the real. Not this made up rap shyt.

Interviewer- Cool thats whats up. So how long have you been rapping?

Rapper- Since I was about 12 when I heard that NWA straight outta compton. That's probably my favorite song ever.

In honor of the 15th anniversary of his classic, we give you a behind the scenes look at
MC Slap'EmAwl - Open Handed.

1. WHAT'CHA LOOKIN' AT?
Slap: "This was da jump off, yo. This was just how I was feelin' at the time. Anybody coulda got slapped;
I was givin' no fuccs. I used to perform this 3 times a show, but I had to stop after what happened to ol' girl
in Detroit."

2. I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU, NICCA!
Slap: "It seemed like the natural thing to put this after the first song. It was to let niccas know that no matter
what they was lookin' at, I still wasn't givin' a fucc! I was wild in dem days..."

3. BACK HAND SIDE
Slap: "Yeah, the single...I called it that because I was hittin' niccas with all kinda stylie-lees, yo."

4. FEEL ME
Thuggest Thug: "Slap can't talk about this one. It's real personal for him. Daddy used to slap Mama up,
and he didn't know how to deal as a shorty. He was worried that he was becoming like Daddy was.
He did the whole record in one take and dipped from the studio. We never talked about it again."

5. WHAT ABOUT YA GIRL?
Slap: "This was the joint for DA HOES, mayne! Because the beat was so hard, people thought I was
comin' at 'em like regular slappin'...but if you listen, I was talmbout asses! My music got levels, son!
Im a artist! And yeah, that was New Edition on there. Every once in a while, a lady will come up and
tell me they lost their virginity to this cut. I be like "Word...that's what's up."

6. CAN YOU SLAP IT LIKE THIS?
Diddy: "I saw Slap in the club doin' this dance, and it was hot. I told him don't stop. Because I knew that given
the same cirumstances, I would not stop...because I can't stop. Uh-uh. Ioneven know where I got the beat from,
i'm just a talented man."

Slap: "I never liked this chit, but everybody was makin' dance records and it sold mad ringtones. I bet that nicca
Puff gon' tell you he did that track. It ain't nothin' but a slowed down version of that Technotronic cut (ed.: "Move This")
with some guitar plucks on it. I had to pay almost half of the single money to them."

7. TALES OF THE SLAPPED
Slap: "It's just real chit, mayne...real stories about how I was livin'. The truth."
A.D.A. Hyman Rabinowitz: "We were building a case against Mr. Slap'emawl for multiple assaults, using this
recording as tesimony. We were unable to convict him because he plead self-defense, and he sang this song
from the viewpoint of the alleged victims...his testimony was corroborated by the evidence."

8. OPEN HANDED
Slap: "I was goin' through some thangs when I wrote this. But when I did, I knew this would be the title track.
As a community, we gotta check ourselves if we ever want things to get better. So this was like my slap in the face to wake us up.
And really, sometimes we open our hands to each other not to slap - but to welcome."

Mrs. Slap: "Slap wrote this song in the hospital when I was in labor with our daughter. It only took 15 minutes.
He didn't have any paper, he just wrote it on my bedsheets. I got 'em in a box in the attic...I never felt so close to him."

9. OPEN HANDED REMIX (featuring Mos Def, Cheese Grits, & Busta Rhymes)
Slap: "As you know, my label (Hands On) was being distributed by Priority records. So I had to have Mos on there,
and Cheese was my artist, so I wanted him to shine. But to this day - I HAVE NO IDEA how Busta got on this joint, son."

10. OPEN HANDS TO THE SKY
Slap: "I was raised in the church, so I had to do a gospel cut to give it up to Jah-Jah! I was mad at Jada because I had
the sample first (ed: Sounds Of Blackness - "Optimistic"), but his album came out first. It was all good doe, we chopped up
a different part and made more gutter. It's gutter-gospel. Nobody was really doin' that. Well, Pac was, but he died.
I thought it was a good way to end."

Interviewer: right...but
INK: I had production from Pharrell...I had production from Timberland...you think they are going to throw an album like that away...
Interviewer: right and those guys say they never got paid, and the label says they didn't get paid cause you only sold 61k units that year...
INK: nah man they had it in for me I sold at least 100k...the way they count albums...man it's all funny...like...and the way people by albums...like if there is a family of 5 one of them will by the album and all of them will listen to it...so really I sold 5 albums but I only get credit for the one...that is how record labels jip you out of money
Interviewer: :what::wtf:
