I don't know what has happened in here but let me try to break this shyt down.
1.People like Obama embrace their black side, because they know that there isn't a huge biracial community in America and because when people look at someone like Obama or J cole they'll assume that they're mostly black and treat them like they would any other black. When asked about his race, Obama made a joke about how he would have difficulty trying to hail a cab in NYC. People like Rashida Jones or Mariah Carey can claim that they're something else and get away with it. People have been doing this for a long time, in fact there was a famous story about a person who did it and a movie was made about it. Its called The Human Stain.
2.The whole concept of race is false. Race implies VAST differences between human beings and scientific studies have proven that's just not true. Race was a concept created with the intentions of spreading white supremacy. If you have whites united thinking "well for all my economic struggles at least I aint no N____ or S____ or C____ " then those poor whites are less likely to actually work together with poor nonwhites and get some shyt done. With division among racial lines in place, the people at the top can continue playing BOTH those sides. People were actually stupid enough to fall for that bullshyt. If you look at history before the 16th century you'll notice that people who we call "black" today could be and were highly respected. Go to some cathedrals in Europe and you will see statues and paintings of people with black faces. The 1 drop rule is racist, but we're not going to act like there aren't biracial people who look more white than they do black and they try to hide their blackness and gain the benefits associated with being white. Fun fact: one of the most racist people in American history(J edgar hoover) had black ancestry.
3.If you are picking Rashida Jones over Tyra then its easy to form one of 2 conclusions A. You're whitewashed B. You have shytty taste in women. It is a slippery slope and really problematic when people jump to the
A. Conclusion as the explosion of thread pages here has shown. But lets face the facts here, back at the other forum there were 2 threads. 1.A dark skinned female appreciation thread and 2. A light skinned appreciation thread. I don't have to tell you which one got consistently more posts. People have been brainwashed into liking white women that really aren't all that exceptional over exceptional black women and when you DO see a black woman on TV or in the movies she's often as caucasian looking as possible. The people running TV and movie studios know what they're doing. They know that is what white people in America want to see because white people in America are the majority.
And then there's the B. Conclusion. I think that most people here voting for Rashida over Tyra aren't whitewashed or what have you, they just have shytty taste. I come from a mixed family. I have people in my family with significant African ancestry and they look 100% white. Not even joking.
