If the studio didn't want the rock in the movies, he wouldn't have been in the movies. Maybe Vin put in the good word, but you're delusional if you think he made any kind of final decision regarding that. Executive producers DO NOT have the power to make or veto major casting decisions.Bullshyt.
Vin cut the scenes because he alot of influence with F&F. After Tokyo Drift, they essentially gave him the reigns of the franchise.....like a parent label giving an indie a distribution deal. If Vin Diesel or Justin Lin did not like The Rock back in 2009 when they were casting for the roles, they had the juice to not include him in the movie or to heavily discourage his casting.
That's well within the powers of an Executive Producer or a Movie Director. Denying that goes against all logic.
In 2017 though......Fast & Furious is a $1.5 billion dollar movie franchise.......so the movie studio is not going to allow them to fukk up that money train. In the same way, a parent label can force their indie label to do what they want. So now, The Rock, in 2017, does have leverage and influence that he would not have had in 2009 when he was being considered for the role.
I just checked IMdb and Vin is not even the executive producer. He has a regular production credit along with like 6 other people.
Vin has no real power and he has no reason to have any beef with the Rock. The Rock is the bankable star right now, it is what it is.
