maybe nikkas will start their own radio stations now
This is what it comes down to for me. We can't keep begging white people for acceptance on their platforms. It's like coming into someone else's house and asking to move the furniture around.

Of course it's easier said then done but we're going to keep having this problem of generic cacs copying our music and getting rich from it until we own more parts of the supply chain. I'm talking record labels, radio companies, etc.

This is not about race, it's about what's hot and what isn't. R&B is dead outside of a handful of artists...and the only reason those artists are big today is because they've mixed it with pop and EDM. There's a reason Beyonce isn't doing stuff like Me Myself & I anymore.

Urban radio isn't really playing Tyrese either. Or Jill Scott, or Alicia Keys, etc etc etc.

They buy the most and control the industries because they are the majority.

We are 15%~ of the population and yet have had 100s of successful hiphop acts compared to maybe 5 cac rappers.

R&B will always get lifted by cacs...as will soul. Its just cacs supporting cacs with their 70% ...it doesn't stop them buying black records though

I feel what you're saying. They are still the majority (in the US and the West, not on the Earth) so they have a head start. And if so many of us weren't locked up/disenfranchised in a drunk/high stupor we'd have better odds. They've also made a concerted effort to make sure they stay on top so I admit it's easier said than done to own it.

But I also feel like even though they're the majority, the fact that they (obsessively) follow our example with the music/overall swagger means if we owned our own shyt they would eat out of the palm of our hands. Just my perspective.

They have no problem playing Sam Smith or justin timberlake though...

They have completely hi jacked soul

was watching the smokey robinson tribute at the BET awards.

only 1 black singer up there. and it was nee-yo. no diss to nee-yo, but hes more of a writer than a vocalist. you can tell they trotted him out there as the token black singer on purpose.

and they gave sam smith an award(which he didnt even show up for). does dude even have any variation of a solid black fanbase? lol.

It would take a collective effort and id rather see us taking over other industries like pharma, tech, finance than owning record labels.

Either way we'd still have to cater to cacs unless we quadruple the population

Off rip, a rich dude protesting about not getting help to get richer just doesnt have a moral argument for me.

So looking at it strictly logically...
Dude gets plenty of airplay he just doesn't get top 40 airplay.
He doesn't get top 40 airplay because his music doesn't sound like the rest of the top 40 music in general.
Timberlake aint released a straight up ballad that got major airplay in a long time, neither has robin thicke
Now there is probably 2 artists getting top 40 airplay for music that sounds anywhere near the song in discussion, that's ed sheeran and sam smith.
Both of whom get play because they cracked the UK top pop scene and were introduced into the US.
So basically if you want to get straight soul ballad played on top 40 US radio, best bet is to get it popping in the UK and then transplant it here...

Poor people so bitter that they are poor. It's not the world fault your poor.

Wacklemore is indie too and he had multiple songs hit. :sas2:

Well he had a pop-rap record which is radio friendly so has a better chance of blowing up. Plus he's white. Can't beat this man. Tyrese should just stick with his core fans.

Its the SOUND they chase...cause Jason Derulo and Flo-Rida have no problem getting on those stations.

Nah thats just straight pop.

Sam Smith sounds exactly like Tank, makes music thats strongly influenced by traditional RnB and he won like a hundred grammies and gets major push. Tank aint never even smelled the pop stations or pop charts.
