It's a good fight - getting people to understand the systemic injustices - but it'll only get us so far. I said it before: They're never going to be 100% for you. Next you'll think you can completely get rid of nepotism.

If you put out amazing product, control the distribution and marketing, and make money - then they'll find you.

Did Barry Gordy just complain or did he also make Motown?
Did Michael Jackson just complain about not getting his videos played or did he also make Thriller?

:comeon: we all know why. Is there even a reason to point this shyt out besides wanting white acceptance?
yes, there's one more reason. to point out how RACIST THEY ARE. just in case yall forgot. Yall look at that drake/meek thread. drake is a borderline white guy lets be honest. you have drake, iggy A, and all of these white R&B singers who can crossover at will. but they wont let the originators(black people) do the same?

but yall see these same people cosigning drake and some were cosigning iggy not long ago. i keep telling yall its bigger than the music.

Mjackson RIP my favorite of all time. but you know he did lighten his skin. dont care why. that plays a part. and yes even he know how the racism was going down he said it multiple times in the early years.

dont name a few out-liars. lol at barry gordy and jackson. name me some solid artist getting that run. not many are. thats his point. the music can be great. but white people dont want to look at or hear black people if they get lucky enough to have white people that can mimic us. They've been hi-jacking our music since the beginning we know this.

do people still listen to the radio?
YES, millions do. everyone isnt trying to put together their own playlist. especially these mothers driving their kids to school in the morning. they are the ones still on the radio like that.

That Cheerleader song by that African dude gets alot of spins on pop stations. He's the DEFINITION of a one hit wonder:

Black foreigner? Check.

Accent? Check.

Mundane lyrics? (I think I just found myself a cheerleader). Check.

Dude is basically in the same class as Baha Men(Who Let The Dogs Out), Lou Bega(Mambo Number 5), and Shaggy(It wasn't me). White America loves, loves, loves, black foreigner one hit wonders with unclear mundane messages in their songs. They always come around every few years:

I didn't mention him because I don't know if that song is played on black stations or not. However, you are correct. They play the shyt out of that song and I love it. They also play the Nay Nay song.

I agree. I like Sam Smith and Robin Thicke, but they should not be pushed as the face of R&B/soul, which is what is happening in the mainstream.
yup, I peeped the shift a while back
from my rough observation, it seems that the only black artist that gets penetration are people who are negative (except maybe John Legend?)

Yeah, I would agree. Aloe Blacc and Nico & Vino are positive and also get mainstream spins, but I haven't heard much from them this year.

I've always been pissed and asking myself why don't they ever play Janell Monae. She has good music and if there was a white face on some of her song, they would definitely be top 40.

I'm not sure this is total white privilege. Tyrese seems to think that he somehow stayed relevant between the last time he released a single until now. You can't just jump out of the music biz into acting and come back like nothing ever happened. Did he do any promoting?
