TYRONE GA!
I don't undrrstand yall who are saying we need our own stations.

His songs are getting played on the Black stations. Whether owned by us or not, the Black format is supporting him.

The problem is that it's stopping there for him. And if that same song was by a white artist it would likely be more mainstream.

this. nikkaz failing reading/listening comprehension and shyt

I'm not sure this is total white privilege. Tyrese seems to think that he somehow stayed relevant between the last time he released a single until now. You can't just jump out of the music biz into acting and come back like nothing ever happened. Did he do any promoting?

He was promoting his new album hard. Tyrese was on every urban ac station and he was on breakfast club and hot 107 nationally

The only black artists that I've seen played on all station types today is Nicki Minaj, Drake, Rhianna, and sometimes Beyonce.

I will say that there are a few black artists that are never played on stations targeted toward black people

These artists are not seen as Black by mainstream. They are seen as racially ambiguous cross over acts.

Nicki is half Indo-Trini
Drake is half Jewish-Canadian
Rihanna is Bahamian but she's mixed with Irish
Beyonce is Creole

Nicki is the only one that actually has brown skin. The rest of them have the skin complexion as most White people

Plenty of people see them as black. I don't know anyone (including white people) who considers them racially ambiguous (minus Drake). Everyone doesn't have the same opinions about race either. Also, ethnicity/nationality is not the same as race.

I know the differences between ethnicity, nationality and race. I only listed the ethnicities and nationalities of these artists you initially named.... to point out that those are the parts of their identity that contribute to people not viewing them as solely "Black". Drake, Nicki, Rihanna and Beyonce are urban artists but they have cross over appeal and a lot of that has to do with their look.

He's halfway right, plenty of people don't see Beyonce as being black, same with Drake not sure about Rhianna though. The blackest of the 4 he mentioned Nicki gets the most hate tho...I wonder why.

I'm not talking about black Americans, I'm talking about everybody else, Hispanics, Asians etc..the majority of the world basically.

I've never been in contact with a person of another race who thought those people weren't black. I do not live in a majority black environment and interact mostly with people of other races (not by choice).

We just know different people.

what radio stations is tyrese talking about though? you have your hip hop stations and then you have your adult urban contemporary stations. HIp hop stations play hip hop and music that caters to the younger audience. thats not tyrese's lane. I will say this though. Before i feel that the soul was sucked out of r and b music. But thanks to JIll scott and Tyrese i feel its slowly coming back. the key is that we cant depend on the radio anymore. We have to support these artists. get on their fb pages. their twitter acounts. I havent heard a radio station play a teedra moses song yet. but by following her on social media, i know she dropped her new album.
