My girlfriend is Mexican and while they certainly have unique things about them like any culture, there are way too many family similarities I notice to ever justify wild shyt like this. Especially for southern black culture in terms of family always being around, grandparents playing a central role, everyone working...none of that sounds foreign to you if you're southern black OR (like a very large percentage of black people including myself) your grandparents were from the south and then migrated elsewhere in the US.
I'm very suspect of black people who willfully perpetuate the idea that blackness is some pathological inefficiency or level of disorder, whereas everyone else is normal and doing well. That's not how shyt works, and it's pure internalized racism. Another major issue I have with this is it points to the death of culture in the future if lames like Tyrese take over. Culture, customs, and principles cannot die with grandma or your parents. That shyt has to be carried on. If your uncle who used to do all the BBQ passes away, you need to carry that on instead of sitting around asking where the cookout is. If your grandma cooked gumbo for Christmas dinner, somebody needs to carry that on when she passes.
