Nah, but in London transport oversight is necessary and I seems like Transport for London found out Uber were scamming them.

Interesting take. I think it's a bit of both - Appeasement of Black cab drivers but Uber also shoulders a large blame for failing to meet or deliberately avoiding the standards as set out by Transport for London

I was just in London for over last two weeks, all the drivers were talking about it.....I was happy for them, but there's still thousands of Uber drivers who are just trying to make it to, and this is devastating for them. NY Times covered this really well in the summer.
