Think Facebook but instead of friends you have drivers. You log in and book a ride by picking and choosing a driver by location or the type of car they drive. You can see where they are currently located and it will give u an eta. You pay via PayPal.
:leon:

So anyone can be a driver?

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I've used uber plenty of times in NYC, it's definitely useful if your off somewhere where you can't pull a yellow cab. But like someone said above, these nikkaz don't even know their fukking city, and I'm not from New York, so when I tell them I need to go somewhere, there punching that shyt in their gps or asking me what's the best way to get there :mindblown: at least with the yellow cab, them nikkas know all the quickest routes. Also, uber isn't always the cheapest option compared to the yellow cab. I've paid cheaper with yellow cabs more often than not vs uber, again, that's because the uber drivers don't know where the fuk they are going lol

Manhattan aint that hard neither and GPS don't work that well because of the buildings so if you don't really know your way.. :snoop:

In the Silver Lining
taxi union blocked all that shiit down here in austin.

Uber and Lyft bumrushed Houston at the ire of the taxi cabs companies. So for about 5 months they were as the newspaper called them, operating "rouge", until a few weeks ago, when the city council approved them here. Houston is the last big city in the U.S. it has started. Now they are starting to talk about doing courier type work. For example, picking up laundry, groceries, or even paperworks from business to business.

They are amidst a semi strike in seattle by their drivers

http://www.geekwire.com/2014/uberx-drivers-honk-horns-downtown-seattle-protest-low-wages/

They have been giving like 20% off all rates in seattle this summer, at the cost of THEIR drivers. And the drivers had no say. And uber didn't scale back their cut. They've been on "surge" pricing all week because of the lack of active drivers.

The problem is this:

Uber is a technology company

Thats fine for the end user. Thats NOT fine though in practice because they have failed to understand uber is ACTUALLY a transporation company, and the drivers' satisfaction and wage is directly proportional to the user's experience. Unhappy or underpaid or underskilled drivers make for a bad experience. Do you know how often I have to give my uber driver directions? :why: thats garbage. KNOW your city.

In addition they've done a poor job working with the municipalities they drive in. They go rouge and the cities or now countries [going back to the OP] push back.

Uber has a lot of work to do...this is what happens when tech companies start to provide services....they become SERVICE companies. And they aren't very good sometimes at providing services....
Well, I'm glad Germany had the balls to deal with Uber directly. I'm not a taxi driver nor do I have friends who are, but there are expenses involved in running a taxi-cab company and Uber is like a legal gypsy cab company and is under-cutting the competition unfairly. Gypsy cab is a guy driving his personal car without a taxi license. They try to pick up passengers from airports usually.
