Vettori gets starched
Costa gets starched

The problem is getting to Pereira's back. Alex respected Izzy's striking enough that the avenue opened up. The 1st time Vettori or Costa shoot, they're eating a knee and playing hide and seek with consciousness.

Bruno Silva proves that that's not necessarily true and he's practically a nobody, but he scored two takedowns on Pereira and was still conscious at the end of the fight.

only thing in the way of favorites sweeping the main card was an Israel victory and that should have been one of the easier ones. I’m glad i cashed the pereira ticket but at championship level that ref knows he stopped it early. there's lower level guys coming back from bad spots and winning their fights, chris barnett being one of the last.

israel answered the standard ''show me something'' by showing movement.

I’m grateful but imo ref took the fight into his own hands for whatever reason.

MMA journalists are so trash. "Up until that moment, it was probably one of your best performances"

I'm sitting here like :gucci:
Breh also said he has medical issues he's been putting on the back burner, mentioned the saggy nipple issue, and compared it to people making fun of Chadwick Boseman when he was looking off but silently suffering.

Not a single follow-up question was asked :jbhmm:

but I'm a amateur, I would think a pro who whole job is to be the best would add some new wrinkles to their game. I'm not trying to down izzy breh is an amazing fighter still, just curious why he didn't explore that hole in his game further.

I guess the absolute worst timeline would have to happen for it to be exposed (his demon being in the ufc)...and it happened so lol

Yea, virtually cleaned out the division.. ATG.. tho ever since he took that L jumping weight classes (in pursuit -i felt- of a Jones super fight), I felt he was in a career crossroads and kinda been threading water.

i.e. 33 yrs old, not a spring chicken, already reached the mt top but too small for the bigger mts. His greatest nemesis (Jones) unavailable. What to do?

And thru all this he had such a height/reach advantage in his division that he may've become complacent with his skill set.

Some say Alex is the first guy on Izzy's level in striking... i'd argue Rob was but, again, 4 inch height and 6.5 inch reach disadvantage. Alex is more like the first on his level who didn't surrender any height or reach.

Damn, I hope it's something benign and nothing like what Chadwick was dealing with.

Looks like those early calf kicks were crucial. Izzy is saying his leg was compromised which effected his movement and grappling.
