Ufc actually took 50% of his mayweather money

How Floyd Mayweather Made A Record $275 Million For One Night Of Work

The fight fell just short of the $600 million haul for the 2015 Pacquiao fight, but Mayweather’s paycheck was 10% bigger, thanks to a greater cut of the total revenue pie for Mayweather Promotions compared to 2015.

Mayweather was guaranteed $100 million and McGregor $30 million ahead of the bout. The two fighters ultimately received more than two-and-a-half times their guarantees, with Mayweather at $275 million and McGregor roughly $85 million. Mayweather’s paycheck was three times as much as his opponent, due to his role as the promoter of the bout and as the ‘A’ side of the fight. McGregor’s cut came from co-promotor UFC, which paid the Irishman just over half its share, according to multiple sources.

:mindblown:

This was not talked about enough.
You mean to tell me that of all the money Mcgregor made was still just a cut of UFC's money?

Simple numbers and being unionized.

NBA just generate more money and the players union is strong enough to get a larger %.

UFC make a lot of money too, but the fighters just don't have enough power without a union. For these fighters to form a union, they all gotta be united especially the stars and accept the fact they're not gonna be paid until it's settled. The thing with the UFC though is even if all their fighters go on strike, i think it'll be easier for them to go out and sign non-unionized fighters and then promote the crap out of them and still sell their cards. It's harder for the NBA to find another LeBron, Durant, Tatum:lolbron:.

Lol dudes can’t help but turn everything into a stan war. Cant give MJ no props with y’all weirdos getting aggy :laff:.
Quit being so insecure man. The NBA been eating fat off the hog off the strength of MJs global popularity in conjunction with his corporate sponsors and David Stern alike being wise enough to puppet him and mass market him to exponentially grow the league. Every other star since has been following that exact blueprint. That is a literal fact. Me stating that has nothing to do with, nor a shot at Lebron dude. Don’t quote me again with that nonsense man
NBA players weren’t eating even 10 years after MJ retired

It’s obviously has nothing to do with MJ

The question should be why do UFC fighters get paid so little when they have PPV events with millions of buys.

They are not unionized and frankly the average mma fighter doesn't seem that smart. The matchmakers are watching them bash their faces in while pocketing millions.

Depends on the fighter tho. Who making the big money now? Most big name fighters compete like maybe once or twice a year I say. They seem to have events every week or so but I doubt these random ass fighters getting a million buys for their cards. Especially with streaming these days.

They’re in a union and revenue is split due to their collective bargaining agreement.

idiot asking the wrong question, should be asking why haven’t MMA fighters banded together for some type of union / collective representation so these bozos can stop getting their brains beat to mush for pennies...

Its business 101, Supply & Demand. More people want to watch the NBA (Demand) and they do business all over the WORLD (Supply). The NBA is a GLOBAL league.

Imagine having a fast food restaurant and you only sell on 1 corner (UFC)
Imagine having a fast food restaurant but you are on every corner in the city (NBA)

Same thing goes for the WNBA players that make this same argument.
