actually having to legitimately test, and enforce those tests looks to be leveling the playing field, with title reigns in every weight class lasting like one fight anymore. tough to build stars that draw like that. cards sans mcgregor/jones/rousey have been absolutely awful buy rates. jones is done. the other 2 are a loss away from the masses not giving a flying fukk. expand globally, especially into fighting friendly asia, i guess is their play? because the market in the states is shrinking rapidly. espn would be absolutely retarded to throw a bunch of money at this stuff, but when every tv deal is in bankruptcy court in a decade being resolved whats another shytty deal on the pile

I spend a lot of time looking at media / entertainment assets for private equity.

UFC's TV contract deal will get done at a significant multiple higher than the current 7 year $800mm contract (expires at the end of 2018) -- whether it's with FOX Sports or another network will just be a function of the competitive dynamics. FOX does not want to lose UFC as it is a decent % of its schedule. Also, there's also no real competing sports media rights deal contract up for renewal that would provide competition for network dollars until I believe 2021.

Even the WWE, which considered its contract renewal disappointing, saw a significant step-up. Reason is WWE is looked at on a discounted basis is because its not considered a "true sport" but rather scripted content which hurts attracting premium advertising dollars

But yes, at some point like some of you raised, there's going to need to be a real discussion about the rising programming costs because content providers pass the costs on to the networks who then pass it on to the Cable MSOs, who are already dealing with a ton of cord cutting and have trouble passing the cost on to the consumer, so the video margin for the cable sector has gone to shyt over the last 2 decades.

What do you do?

Keyword is gross. Idk what is more profitable. I do not believe UFC was worth over $4B.
Reportedly made 600m net profit in their last set of accounts...

Assuming no creative accounting took place $4bn doesn't seem too steep. 7 times multiple with great potential upside
